Virtual event breaks world record for charity ‘strip and dip’

An event raising money for childhood cancer has broken an official Guinness World Record for the “most photos of people in water uploaded to Facebook in one hour”, as part of a fundraising ‘Strip and Dip’ drive.

It is the second world record for Strip and Dip, which has to date raised €780,000 for childhood cancer, and purchased a house for the children’s cancer charity Aoibheann’s Pink Tie.

In 2018, it broke the record for the World’s Largest Skinny Dip, with 2,505 women in attendance.

This is the seventh Strip and Dip, which is usually a physical event that sees participants taking a dip for charity.

But due to Covid-19 restrictions, the group this year challenged women to take a ‘virtual dip’ in their togs to raise funds for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie.

Participants posted pictures of them taking the plunge, in a bath, shower, paddling pool, beach, or river.

All photographs were uploaded to the event’s Facebook page between 2pm and 3pm today [6 June, 2020].
