Why Nudists Love Twitter
As platforms like Facebook and Instagram crack down on explicit content, Twitter has allowed nudity to thrive.

Since Martin Belcher, a 50-year-old customer-services adviser based in the U.K., joined Twitter in 2012, he’s tweeted out thousands of naked photos of himself hiking, gardening, reading, eating, and watering his lawn. His nearly 3,000 followers respond by favoriting, retweeting, and frequently sharing nude photos of their own.

Belcher isn’t a porn star or spam account sharing unsolicited photographs of his penis—he’s part of the thriving community of nudists on Twitter who have flocked to the platform after most others have made a policy of censoring or banning images of naked bodies. Nudists on Facebook have had their profiles suspended after failing to properly crop or censor their photos. On Instagram, they’ve been penalized for showing female nipples or too much pubic hair. Tumblr allows NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content, but nudists say the platform is so overrun with spam that it’s unusable. Continued…Read full original article…

Adult content policies and private censorship

Of the many reasons why social media platforms should resist pressure to “voluntarily” censor their users, one stands out: history shows that they will do it badly, taking down valuable and lawful content in the name of enforcing community standards. The result: practical speech discrimination.

Facebook’s adult content policy is a textbook example. Since its early days, the platform has banned nearly all forms of nudity. But from day one, it has created reporting processes that conflate mere nudity with sexuality, and sexuality with pornography, and has applied different standards to feminine bodies than to masculine ones. Keep Calm and Stay Naked
It’s that time of year again when naturists/nudists go into a bit of hibernation of sorts. I have blogged previously about my experiences and tips for surviving as a naturist through the long Canadian winter (Check them out here and here if you like) and have not yet thought of anything of value to add on the subject.

With nothing of value to add to the surviving the winter naked conversation, I decide to start a different post than my usual “naturist experience” based ones, with the topic of current state of naturism as I saw it and the underlying politics and problems holding us back. But ultimately if got a little depressing and I could not remember what I thought would be the benefit of my rambling complaints.

Rather than focus on the ridiculous state of affairs at the International NaturistFederation or the sad (but totally understandable) announcement from YoungNaturists/Nudists of America that they are winding down all YNA operations, and don’t get me started on the many so called Twitter naturists who are really just porno addicted, dick pic sending perverts. This paragraph alone should show you how sad that post would have been
Instead I wanted to talk about the positive things going on and in the world of Naturism. There is plenty going on that give me hope that being a naturist is getting better and easier than even a few years ago. Continued…Read full original article…

Despite the hostility, what makes people take up nudism?

Nudism can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s the most natural state of being, a life path. For others, it may be a way to protest, a symbol of transgression, a path to enlightenment, a muse of artistic creation.

But what is it that makes people take to it, despite it being a taboo and a punishable offence in most nations? Continued…Read full original article…

When looking for new naturist friends

It’s not all that easy when it comes to finding like-minded peers in Montreal to be able to consider as friends when it comes to the Naturist lifestyle. The reason for this maybe more me, however, this same fear or anxiety that I have might be shared with others having this same concern.

I have been in the chatrooms, meetup groups, searching Facebook groups to find people who I can relate with — with no real success. Don’t get me wrong, I have found many friends online who I can relate with. the only problem is, they live very far away. I have trusted Naturist friends in the USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, etc. Just none close enough to the Montreal region. I use to have two good Naturist friends. (Alex and Jean) I now just have Jean, since Alex has retired and has been traveling across the USA and Canada now with his new partner Betty. Continued…Read full original article…

Nudism, Nudists and Everything You Want To Know About The Nudist Lifestyle and Nudism!
Introduction to Nudism and what does being a nudist mean?

A Nudist may have many reasons for being naked. Some common reasons are self-acceptance, getting closer to nature, physical comfort, and more authentic human connection and relationships.

Nudists feel that a deeper or truer understanding of people can be attained by first stripping away outer signs of class, wealth, and style. A nudist person will argue that mentalities like “clothes make the man” are superficial and judgmental. By removing the means of preconceptions – clothing – people can see each other as human beings and not as their socio-economic status.

A Nudist Take Over – Nudist Women Take Over Land to Establish a Nudist Colony!

A lot of people prefer to live the majority of their lives fairly fully clothed. Some might even spend a good deal of their time focusing on shopping and putting together stylish outfits for this purpose. But there are also a good number of people who prefer to live just the opposite and embrace nudism.

That is, nudism is a lifestyle that is shared by many communities across the world. For some, it offers an alternative or “more natural” way of living. As a side note, “naturism” is actually the term preferred by many nudists today. While nudism and naturism both refer to the practice of going nude in a non-sexual setting, naturism tends to have a philosophy and values behind it. It isn’t just about nudity but about acceptance, equality and respecting others and the environment. Continued…Read full original article…

The pros and cons of social media for the future of nudism
“Dear Facebook, Several months ago we’ve sent you a message with complaints, but unfortunately we haven’t heard anything back from you. We’re still not satisfied…”

This could have been the start of another open letter to Facebook complaining about the fact that they still don’t respect us, the nudists. Because they still seem to think that what we are doing belongs to the same category as porn stars having threesomes on white leather couches.

We do like to fight for our rights, verbally at least, and we love the discussions although they’re often endless. Give us a bottle of wine and some snacks and we can talk the whole evening and most of the night about how wrongly we feel treated by social media and how unaccepted we feel by something that’s supposed to bring people together. But in the end they’re not going to change their rules for us, they are big businesses. They react on the requirements of a majority. They don’t care that some Naked Wanderings blog (a very good one by the way, you should read it sometime) complains about getting temporarily banned or that a woman starts questioning wheter or not a fraction of her nipple can be shown.
Well… at least not when you’re alone… Cont…Read full original article…

A Facebook generation of naturists!

The new generation of nudists/naturists could dream of being a part of a naturist organisation. But they do embrase public nudity more than ever, especially in England and France.

I think the Internet and Social Medias is a part of the reason, before we had to organise in clubs, organizations and similar to make a statement. Today it’s easier than ever to make a movement using Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr and other social medias.

In many ways, the goal is the same as the classic naturist – naked freedom. But in other ways there is a slightly difference. The classic naturist is often a part of a naturist club/orginasation. This may make some people a little “affraid” of nakedness, they don’t consider them self nudists or naturists. They just love being naked when they feel like being naked. That is an important difference, because this new movement might take naked freedom a step further to a broader audience than the classic naturist organizations. Many people enjoy being naked at home, and on more private places, other like to be naked in more social matters. Both paths is total accepted, the goal is a common acceptance of nakedness.

Cont…Read full original article…
