Almost 20 years to the day since Byron celebrated an historic Nude Ain’t Rude rally on Belongil beach, local activists and nature lovers are asking if it’s time to hold another.
The call follows the arrest of four people in just a few weeks for swimming naked in a quiet area of beach well south of Brunswick Heads but outside Byron Council’s (recently reduced) official clothing optional area.
Dean Jefferys told Echonetdaily he took his three-month old daughter to the rally, which was held on Australia Day 1998, not long after having a fine for offensive behavior quashed by the courts. Continued…Read full original article…

I’m in Olon, Ecuador waiting for another walk along the beach. It hasn’t exactly been the sunniest time I’ve spent along the Pacific Ocean, so it is hard to tell at this point just how well my Kiniki [tan through] bathing attire will work out when I am on a public beach. I’ve written previously about the bathing suits I bought to replace my previous briefs that definitely didn’t allow any sun to colour the private areas.
Holly decided to get such a bathing suit for her use, which finally got a work out during a trip to Gambia in the recent past. She graciously provided me with an image of her bathing suit before use, and another post-use which is also included in this post. Now, the whole idea that we need to own such a bathing suit is beyond ridiculous. Since more than 99.99% of the population has either a male or female body [I’m not talking about gender identity which is a completely different matter] there is nothing to be seen that isn’t as common as a grain of sand when clothing is set aside. The naked truth about sunbathing … and here’s a titillating glimpse of me and Mrs Wells in the buff
Columnist Martin Wells decide to throw of the constraints of moralistic suburbia and go naturist on their European tour
As I’ve hinted at before in this column, there’s something intensely liberating about being alone in a foreign country with no one but each other to worry about.
My wife and I are free to be who we want to be and, indeed, free to be who we’d like to be. There are none of the restraints you find in normal social situations, where the company of friends demands a certain conformity and you are scared of ‘letting your hair down’ for fear that someone you know might be watching.
And judging. Continued…Read full original article…

TWO years ago, the dream of many nudists was expected to come true – an official clothing optional beach on the Fraser Coast.
It seemed possible until the Queensland Government shut down a petition started by Poona man John Hart to introduce a legal nudist beach at Dundowran in 2015.
A decision to make the “nude beach” legal has not come to light despite the popular Fraser Coast beach already declared an “unofficial nude beach”. Continued…Read full original article…

Nudism and Naturism in Austria
Where to Take it All Off
Austrians have taken the title of ‘Most Likely to Go Nude at a Beach’ from the Germans, in a naked wrestling match no-one wanted to see, with a quarter of the country saying they have stripped off in public on vacation at some point in their lives.
Although many consider Austrians to be a formal and rather conservative people, the extent of nudity in Austrian culture may surprise the visitor to Austria.
As in many European countries, nudity is more prevalent on television and films in Austria than it is in the US. Continued…Read full original article…

Holidaymakers flock to Croatian tour guide service amid BOOM in nude tourism
A TOURISM service in Croatia has ditched social norms by offering cheeky holidaymakers a break in the buff – marking a year in which nude tourism has surged in popularity.
Croatia Nudism – whose Insta page boasts over 9,000 posts – has posted nearly 900 images of holidaymakers using its service.
Jet-setters keen on pushing the boundaries appear to simply get in touch before organisers respond with their recommendations.
And tearing up the rulebook even more, they are sending in their cheekiest snaps for the service to post on the social media site.
In a description, the services says: “Croatia Nudism. Your guide for nudist vacations in Croatia. Continued…Read full original article…

Continued…Read full original article…

5 Tips For Going Nude In Greece
If you’ve been following us via this blog or on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter during the last months, you probably noticed that we’ve spent a lot of time in Greece. A real necessity, even if we only wanted to get the slightest impression of the country. When you look at the country on the map, it doesn’t seem very big. Its size is roughly the same as Austria and Switzerland combined and a bus ride from one side to the other rarely takes more than several hours. What people tend to forget (well, at least we did) is that Greece has over 6000 islands. It’s like the Japan of Europe, but with better options for the nudies.
We don’t want to call ourselves a reference for nudism in Greece, even though we’ve spent a lot of time in the country, we know that we’ve only seen a fraction of it. But from our experiences we’re sure that we can give you some valuable tips when it comes to getting naked.
Embrace clothing optional
Although Greece is a popular holiday destination for nudists, it doesn’t have a decent nudist organisation or any nudist clubs and only a handful of nudist resorts, villas or camps. So if you only like to be naked among the nude, your options are limited to one of those places. Even though one could easily spend two weeks inside Vassaliki resort and wish there were two weeks more to come, you’ll miss out on a lot of the fun. Continued…Read full original article…

As the end of the summer, and thus the end if the naturist season as well, in Greece was fastly approching, we had to evaluate our options for the next ten to fifteen days. Our main plan was actually to head north, in the direction of Thessaloniki and try our luck for finding some last Greek nude beaches over there, but then our eye fell on an entry in our Google search saying Kalokeri Villas. Well, it was mostly the word “villas” that got our intention because we had no idea what “Kalokeri” means (meanwhile we know that it means “summer holiday”) and a villa was a type of accommodation that we still had to cross from our list.
So we went back the same way we had come only weeks ago, we’d been to north Peloponnese, east and south-east Peloponnese, but for some unexplainable reason we never considerd visiting the south-west of the peninsula. Until now. Continued…Read full original article…

Getting rid of sex pests and other inappropriate behaviour is the main issue for everyone including residents, councillors, naturists and other beach users at the clothes-optional beach in Tyagarah and the surrounding area including the tea-tree lakes. How to respond to the situation is being debated at the upcoming Byron Shire Council meeting this Thursday, October 26 where councillor Paul Spooners has put forward a notice of motion (NoM) to remove the status of the clothes-optional beach at Tyagarah.
Local Tyagarah resident of 21 years Gwen Gould supported the beach being declared clothes optional in 1998 and continues to today but recognises that there are many issues with the area.
‘I swim down there naked all the time,’ said Gwen.
‘I’m 76 and I love to go down there and swim naked but I have been harassed so many times. So often you have to deal with theses aggressive, offensive people. I’m really conflicted. I love the freedom but I hate the hassle.’ Continued…Read full original article…

In a move that has given hope to both Tyagarah residents and naturists, Byron Shire Council today (Thursday, October 25) resolved to continue to allow nude bathing on a reduced stretch of Tyagarah Beach, starting 200 metres south of Grays Lane and ending well north of Elements Resort.
The amendment by Cr Basil Cameron, to Cr Paul Spooner’s original motion to close the beach to naturists completely, was carried with the support of Greeens councillors Michael Lyon, Jeanette Martin and Sarah Ndiyae, together with independent Cate Coorey.
The motion commits council, after four years of inaction, to erect signage on the beach within two weeks indicating exactly where the clothing optional section is, and also requires council to review the situation again in three months.
In the meantime, council will liaise with police, naturists and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in an attempt to establish whether there is a more suitable alternative for a less remote clothing optional beach in the shire. Continued…Read full original article…

Why Are We So Afraid of Female Breasts?
The taboo against female breasts is sexist, discriminatory and promotes rape culture
I was tanning at a topless beach in France when I first realized how ashamed I was of my breasts. One of my best friends – a French exchange student I was visiting after our high school graduation – and her French mother were lying next to me bare-chested without a second thought about it.
There were men in Speedos and women of all shapes, sizes and ages walking around in nothing but bikini bottoms all around me. Some of the women were young with small, perky breasts; some were old and leathered with breasts that hung down to their belly buttons, flat as pancakes; and some had such perfectly round, bouncy breasts, I felt embarrassed to look at them. But the one thing they all had in common was an air of something between self-confidence and indifference.
No one was sucking in their stomach, arching their backs, or trying to hide imperfections. They were just letting it all hang out, eating nectarines, applying tanning oil, building sand castles, or jumping in the waves, with no self-consciousness, like nothing could be more natural.
Continued…Read full original article…

From our Naked Wanderings Cyclade Islands Basecamp on Antiparos it was only a fifteen minute ferry ride to the neighboring and much bigger island Paros. A prude’s guide to baring all
The debrief: from nudist beaches to Hollywood waxes, is it ever possible to feel comfortable getting naked in front of a fully dressed stranger? Self-confessed prude Catherine Hufton investigates
There’s no beating around the bush (no pun intended) but I’m a self-diagnosed prude. I always have been, always will be. On my first girl’s holiday to Newquay as a teen, my very confident friends decided to skinny dip in the sea after several bottles of Lambrini. I stood on the sand with my arms crossed feeling completely at odds. ‘What the hell is wrong with you – get in!’ they screamed as their boobs bobbed up and down in the dirt-grey water. ‘I’ll just stay here and watch the bags,’ I yelled back. ‘It’s way too cold for me!’. 15 years later and I remain the prude of the group, the one they’ve never seen naked. Ever.
As a grown woman, I’d like to say that I’m not quite as frigid as I used to be, but the thought of many everyday beauty treatments still brings me out in a cold sweat. I’ve never had a spray tan, and still have nightmares about a Brazilian wax I got a few years ago. A massage is about the best I can do. Am I alone? Turns out I’m not. I spoke to a few fellow prudes about their own experiences of baring all, while turning to the beauty experts for tips on losing one’s inhibitions. Cont…Read full original article…

When I was a kid, my father always used to sunbathe nude in our garden at weekends. In public pools, children of all ages were allowed to run around naked all the time.
Even today, I’m comfortable with getting naked in the sauna or gym changing room. Maybe it’s because I’m German.
Nudism is traditionally popular in Germany, a country considered buttoned up and conservative compared with, let’s say, Italy.
In Germany, nudism is known as Freikoerperkultur (FKK), Free Body Culture. Baring all is normal in saunas, swimming pools, the park and on the beach.
Summer in the parks of Berlin and Munich brings the chance of encountering a middle-aged, bronzed German wearing only a hat and the BILD-Zeitung, Germany’s favorite tabloid. Cont…Read full original article…

By the turn of the 20th century, there was a full-fledged nudist movement unfolding in Europe. This wasn’t the oil-soaked, full-penetration nudity of the Roman Empire, but a communal understanding among “nonsexual social nudists,” folks that felt the sting of the Industrial Revolution in their lungs and wanted to get back to nature. They were, predictably, mostly German and they let it all hang out in parks and naturist resorts. Though the trend made its way across the Atlantic, it morphed in America, becoming a beach thing – and, eventually, becoming a subcultural thing.
Mark Haskell Smith, who reports on subcultures for a living, shed it all to live as the nudists do for his book Naked At Lunch. Smith weaves his American and European nudists adventures with the fascinating history of nudism. Inverse talked to him about the future of the no-clothes pastime and what not to do at a nudist resort. Cont…Read full original article…

Cont…Read full original article…

We’ll sketch you a scene here: A beautiful Tuesday afternoon , there’s a beach on Antiparos, one of the amazing Cyclade islands in Greece. The sun is high in the sky, the water is in different shades of blue and the soft sands are calling to put down your towel.
The reason why you picked this beach and not one of the many others on the island is because it’s one of the only official nudist beaches in all of Greece and once you got to the place you were happy to see the sign saying “official nudist beach since the seventies”. When you looked a bit further a more unpleasant sight caught your attention… Textiles.
So you walk down the beach, past the hordes of textiles, spotting a single nudist here and there and you wonder “what happened?”. Until you pass a dune and there, in a small secluded area where the beach is more rocky and less shady you’ll find the nudists. Packed together.
Does this sound familiar?
Unfortunately, to many of you it must do. Based on the reactions we often get when we write the 724th blog post in favour of clothing optional. Many nudies have the idea that textiles are taking over their beaches, chasing us away or into a corner. Cont…Read full original article…

The Young Nudists of Australia are bringing naked mini golf to Sydney
A GROUP of young Aussies are trying to show that naturism isn’t just for old folks. A Sydneysider is leading the charge.
THINK of nudists and you might conjure an image of jiggly, leathery old folks playing volleyball.
But Sydneysider Matt O has made it his mission to change that. He and a few friends founded the Young Nudists of Australia in 2016, with the aim of introducing 18-40 year olds to benefits of getting together, and getting nude.
The group quickly amassed a membership of over 350 people interested in exploring the nudist lifestyle.
Matt says being nude is a “hugely empowering and liberating experience” and one of the greatest equalisers in modern-day society.
“I’m healthy but not overly skinny but if anybody thinks only physically stunning people try naturism, one visit to a nude beach or resort and they will see that isn’t true.
“Once I realised that myself, it makes you feel so much better about yourself. Nobody is judging you, nobody is critiquing you and that just makes you feel so accepted. That feeling of acceptance is why I love it. Cont…Read full original article…

Cont…Read full original article…

In some of the first articles on this website we told you how we experienced our first time nude among others and how we accidentally landed on a nudist campground. This is pretty much how we rolled into it. At the time we didn’t ask ourselves too many questions about this, it was what it was, and we enjoyed it. Only later, after talking to several other nudists and after reading about it on the web, it occurred to us that we were actually pretty lucky because we were born in a country where nudism is quite accepted and because we both stepped into it together. We hear so many stories where one partner really had to convince the other to give it a shot, sometimes resulting in a life long nudist couple but other times the answer would remain a plain “No” and so there was one more closet nudist. Or worse.
In several other articles we’ve tried to give you some reasons to engage into nudism. 7 Reasons to become a nudie is such an example, but also in Undress to destress or Improve your body acceptance by going nude we’ve been talking a lot about the advantages of being a nudist.
All of the philosophies which you can find in above articles are not ours of course. But because we strongly believe in them, we’ve brought them to you in our own words.
Sometimes, however, a smart ass will ask us: “Yeah, yeah, we know about the feeling of freedom and the equality and the lack of tan lines and stuff like that, but tell me, why did YOU decide to be nudists?”
And they don’t want to hear the stories about how we accidentally rolled into it, they want to know why we stuck to it, why we got interested in it, to such an extend that we even started writing about it. Cont…Read full original article…

Nudismo.
Cont…Read full original article…

Beaches, for many sand-loving humans, are glorious paradises. Ideal areas to sunbathe, swim, play volleyball or simply hang out – and in some places, let it all hang out. We’re referring, of course, to nude beaches.
Nude beaches are exactly what you think. They’re places where people congregate for typical recreational beach activities, but instead of covering up with bathing suits and towels, everything is on full display.
Let’s settle one critical point straight right away — nude beaches aren’t typically a pornographic hodgepodge of hedonism or voyeurism. They are, quite simply, a lot like regular beaches, only some people are naked instead of clothed. Cont…Read full original article…

12 Progressively bold things to do naked
Being naked feels great, doesn’t it? It’s the way we came into the world, and it’s the way nature intended us to be.
The feel of the sun, wind and water against our bare bodies is so natural and freeing.
The ancient Greeks knew this and celebrated the naked human form, especially when it came to sports and competition. In fact, the word gymnasium comes from the Greek word “gymos,” which literally means naked.
The original Olympic games featured nude athletes running, wrestling, and boxing. In Sparta, even the female athletes competed naked, much to the enjoyment of the Spartan boys who were allowed to watch.
We also know that ancient cultures in Egypt, India, and the Orient practiced nudism. And many remote tribes in Africa and South America wear little to no clothing even to this day.
Why did we start wearing clothes? Cont…Read full original article…

‘It is such a liberating experience’: Naturists get real about life in the raw
A naturist lifestyle is about much more than getting your gear off.
When executive Stuart Whelan first decided to visit a nudist beach, he didn’t tell his wife. But she had suspicions he’d been up to something.
“When I got home she looked at me and said ‘Where have you been? You’re just beaming’”, he says. “I’d always planned to tell her, and she said ‘Wow … I’ve got to have some of that.’”
Thus began a journey that led Whelan, in his early 50s at the time, and his wife, from their corporate life in Sydney to owning and operating a naturist retreat in Nelsons Bay. For Whelan, getting naked in nature was “transformational”. Cont…Read full original article…
