At this writing, I’m sitting on the veranda of my apartment in a lovely little naturist resort on Phuket – Lemon Tree Resort – one of but a few places where it’s legal to get naked in Thailand. Well worth the trouble to get here, but it is, indeed a bit of trouble to get here, which inspired the name of this post.
As it happens, I love to explore and find places that I wouldn’t stumble into without some sort of incentive. For a naturist, that incentive is finding a new naked destination; good enough reason to spend a bit of time on internet finding a way to get naked at the ends of the earth. The main criteria for making this list is: 1) I doubt I would have come here had it not been for the opportunity to discover a new naturist destination, and 2) it has to be someplace I would consider visiting again. Mkwebane’s findings follow an investigation on whether Ray Nkonyeni Council followed the correct procedures before approving the KZN Naturists Association’s application to make Mpenjati Beach a nudist beach.
Many issues were raised regarding the decision, which led to Mkwebane investigating and giving a report on the proceedings in terms of its constitution.
According to the report RNM did not follow the required procedures. The council just approved the request before making an application to the Department of Environmental Affairs and KwaZulu-Natal Ezemvelo, as required by law.
The report clarifies that municipal by-laws are amended and adopted through a formal process in terms of the Local Government Systems Act.32 of 2000. Continued…Read full original article…

The End of Lake Willoughby’s Nude Beach?
Draft Ordinance Headed for Westmore Town Meeting in March
WESTMORE — It’s a little too cold now for swimming – with or without a bathing suit.
But the Westmore Select Board is not done with its consideration of banning nude sunbathing come next beach season at popular Lake Willoughby’s Southwest Cove.
That beach, secluded and accessed by a walk through the woods and down a set of stone steps, has been a clothing-optional beach for decades.
Every so often, controversy over the nude beach bubbles up, and that happened this past summer, with allegations coming to the town’s selectmen over women being bullied by naked sunbathing men.
Those allegations led the board recently to meet with the town attorney to consider a draft public indecency ordinance for the Town of Westmore that would put an end to the clothing-optional beach enjoyed by the naturists – the term naked sunbathers prefer. Continued…Read full original article…

Nudists in KwaZulu-Natal are due to lodge a fresh application for the designation of a nudist beach outside Margate‚ on the lower South Coast.
This comes after the public protector set aside‚ on technical grounds‚ the decision by the Ray Nkonyeni municipality (then known as Hibiscus Coast) to grant permission for a secluded section of the coast to be turned into a nudist beach.
In 2016‚ the municipality received both kudos and condemnation when it designated part of the Mpenjati Estuary as a nudist-friendly beach. Continued…Read full original article…

South Coast nudist beach plan scrapped
Durban: The public protector has ruled against the proposed South Coast nudist beach, much to the relief of the Concerned Citizens Group which opposed it.
The outcome of the probe into whether the Ray Nkonyeni (formerly Hibiscus Coast) Municipality should have approved an application for nudists on Mpenjati Beach, was announced by the group in Marburg on Monday.
This was at a meeting with community members on behalf of whom the group had lodged the complaint to prevent the 500m stretch of beach near Trafalgar becoming South Africa’s second official nudist resort.
The group’s Reverend Mike Effanga later told The Mercury that the final report was hand-delivered to him on Friday. Continued…Read full original article…

Naturism, nudism…it seemed the same to me. I couldn’t tell you the difference between the two concepts. I never thought of it beyond stereotypes: something done by “eccentric” people, somehow related to exhibitionism, and mostly done by men.
However, some time ago a friend told me about naturism, how she became a member of Irish Naturist Association and how much she enjoyed naturist outings and being in contact with nature, as nature intended. She also told me how popular naturism is in some Central European countries, how naturism is practiced by families plus the benefits for children as they learn to appreciate and accept their own bodies and other people’s bodies, apart from sexual connotations, in a respectful environment. Talking to her inspired a genuine curiosity in me and I felt that I should try, at least try.
However, I always told her that my preference would be to experience naturism in a warmer location than Ireland. I am quite a shivery/chilly person, and the idea of going nude in Ireland was inconceivable for me. I have never worn sandals or shorts in Ireland and I’m always fully wrapped up. Of course, I have never dipped my feet in the Irish Sea, despite the insistence of my children. I have always been a little envious of people swimming throughout the whole year in places such as Seapoint or the Forty Foot.
A few days ago, my friend invited me to join a naturist group of people to go to the beach. As this was likely to be the last sunny and warm day of the year, I did not want to miss this opportunity. So finally, I postponed my commitments and decided to join, ready for my first nudist experience. Continued…Read full original article…

Nudism can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s the most natural state of being, a life path. For others, it may be a way to protest, a symbol of transgression, a path to enlightenment, a muse of artistic creation.
But what is it that makes people take to it, despite it being a taboo and a punishable offence in most nations? Continued…Read full original article…

As the end of the summer, and thus the end if the naturist season as well, in Greece was fastly approching, we had to evaluate our options for the next ten to fifteen days. Our main plan was actually to head north, in the direction of Thessaloniki and try our luck for finding some last Greek nude beaches over there, but then our eye fell on an entry in our Google search saying Kalokeri Villas. Well, it was mostly the word “villas” that got our intention because we had no idea what “Kalokeri” means (meanwhile we know that it means “summer holiday”) and a villa was a type of accommodation that we still had to cross from our list.
So we went back the same way we had come only weeks ago, we’d been to north Peloponnese, east and south-east Peloponnese, but for some unexplainable reason we never considerd visiting the south-west of the peninsula. Until now. Continued…Read full original article…

Getting rid of sex pests and other inappropriate behaviour is the main issue for everyone including residents, councillors, naturists and other beach users at the clothes-optional beach in Tyagarah and the surrounding area including the tea-tree lakes. How to respond to the situation is being debated at the upcoming Byron Shire Council meeting this Thursday, October 26 where councillor Paul Spooners has put forward a notice of motion (NoM) to remove the status of the clothes-optional beach at Tyagarah.
Local Tyagarah resident of 21 years Gwen Gould supported the beach being declared clothes optional in 1998 and continues to today but recognises that there are many issues with the area.
‘I swim down there naked all the time,’ said Gwen.
‘I’m 76 and I love to go down there and swim naked but I have been harassed so many times. So often you have to deal with theses aggressive, offensive people. I’m really conflicted. I love the freedom but I hate the hassle.’ Continued…Read full original article…

1,000 families project: naked among the oak trees—a mom of two embraces naturism
In this family, mom practises naturism and enjoys hanging out in the nude with her two naked little cherubs. Dad? He’d rather keep his clothes on.
Never had I imagined I would become a naturist overnight. But after visiting Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in East Gwilliumbury, Ontario, that is exactly what happened.
I moved to the area six short years ago, and must have passed the highway sign more than a hundred times. Each time I thought, “‘I wonder what it’s like, I wish I had the nerve to bare it all in public.”
Naturism—for those who don’t know—is the practice and advocacy of personal and social nudity. I would soon find out there are different degrees of being a naturist. Some people are recreational naturists, and others refer to it as a lifestyle based on personal, family and/or social nudism.
Here is how naturism found me. I had been passing that naturism highway sign for nearly two years until I realized that the only thing stopping me from following my curiosity was a thin layer of cotton fabric on a hot summer day. Continued…Read full original article…

In a move that has given hope to both Tyagarah residents and naturists, Byron Shire Council today (Thursday, October 25) resolved to continue to allow nude bathing on a reduced stretch of Tyagarah Beach, starting 200 metres south of Grays Lane and ending well north of Elements Resort.
The amendment by Cr Basil Cameron, to Cr Paul Spooner’s original motion to close the beach to naturists completely, was carried with the support of Greeens councillors Michael Lyon, Jeanette Martin and Sarah Ndiyae, together with independent Cate Coorey.
The motion commits council, after four years of inaction, to erect signage on the beach within two weeks indicating exactly where the clothing optional section is, and also requires council to review the situation again in three months.
In the meantime, council will liaise with police, naturists and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in an attempt to establish whether there is a more suitable alternative for a less remote clothing optional beach in the shire. Continued…Read full original article…

Enhance your life with nudity?
So, you’re reading this now. Perhaps you were just randomly browsing. Or used a search engine. Or followed a link you came across on Twitter or Facebook. In any case, if you’re still reading, it’s not unfair to assume you’re interested in the topic, or at least curious about it. So I’ll assume that.
Perhaps, in fact, you have personal reasons for wondering and learning more about nudism or naturism. To be clear, I generally use those terms interchangeably, since there’s little agreement about how they differ. Sometimes I’ll also use “social nudity”, which means being naked in a group (of any size) of people who’re also comfortable with being naked around others. That’s a little more general than either “nudism” or “naturism”, which to some people suggest simply enjoying being naked in the privacy of your own home.
There could be several reasons why social nudity arouses your curiosity or interest. Maybe you simply wonder how people could want to get involved in such a thing. Maybe you actually know one or more people who are actually involved. Or maybe you wonder whether it’s something you might try yourself. You might already have tried it, or even found that you rather enjoy it. However that may be, unless you already consider yourself an expert in the subject, I hope I’ll be able to provide you with useful information about it – information that could be helpful if you want to become more involved with social nudity yourself.
I’m not going to go into the history of social nudity, or give a lot of specifics about where to find places to enjoy it, or discuss how social nudity is (or isn’t) accepted by the rest of society, At least, that’s not what I plan to get into first, Continued…Read full original article…

The naturist talks: Nicole from Canada
As you may have read in the very first post of this blog, one of the main reasons why we started this project is to show the world that naturists are not some strange dark commune but that actually everyone could be one… Or could enjoy being one if they took the first step.
Our main example of “everyone” is of course ourselves, we write posts about naturism in general but also about our own experiences. But some of you might be thinking “Yes sure, those two are probably just the strange kids in the block…” (nah, we know you’re not thinking that about us, but we’re trying to write an introduction here). So we decided to let other naturists have a word as well.
So please sit back and get inspired!
Meanwhile we already published several interviews with people from all over the world. You can find them in the The Naturist Talks section.

Continued…Read full original article…

From our Naked Wanderings Cyclade Islands Basecamp on Antiparos it was only a fifteen minute ferry ride to the neighboring and much bigger island Paros. So on a nice Sunday morning we woke up early, walked to the scooter rental shop, went through some useless price negotiations and ended up with a black and blue 50cc beast.
Only minutes later we embarked on the ferry with high expectations. If we had been able to find such a nice range of nudie places on a small island like Antiparos, what would it be on its bigger brother?

When I was about 10, my parents were afraid that if I fell off a boat I might drown, so they enrolled me in a swim class at the local YMCA (Westfield, New Jersey). In the indoor-pool all-boys class, nudity was mandatory for the students. I loved the body freedom and the equality with my fellow students.
As soon as I was old enough not to need a babysitter, my parents would leave me alone when they went out for the evening. Whenever they left, as soon as their car was out of sight, I’d run to my room, ditch my clothes, and return to the living room or kitchen to spend the rest of the evening gloriously naked. I continued going nude around the house when my parents were out, and in my room after they had gone to bed. I remember warm summer nights lying on my bed without sheets as balmy breezes from the open windows wafted across my entire body. I felt wonderful!
I longed to repeat the feeling of freedom I’d had at the Y but had no opportunity for 12 years, until at age of 22 I moved to California to attend graduate school. A friend a year ahead of me showed some slides of the San Francisco Bay Area, one showing a road sign for which he narrated. “Below this sign is a nude beach.” I memorised the sign as he flipped to the next slide. Soon I suggested to my wife that we go to the coast and, without saying why, I took her to that nude beach, Bonny Doon. When we arrived on the beach, I spread our blanket and took off my clothes. For the first time since my teen years, I was delighted to feel the breezes blowing over my entire body! I knew I was home. Continued…Read full original article…

Organisers of Saturday’s inaugural Nude Olympics at Byron’s Belongil Beach say they are already planning for next year’s event.
But those plans may have to be put on hold if a motion before Byron Shire Council next week to ban nude bathing at the beach is successful.
Cr Paul Spooner says in the comments attached to his notice of motion, ‘While I am not against clothes optional bathing on our beaches it seems blatantly clear to me that the isolated location at [Belongil and] Tyagarah has unfortunately encouraged negative social behaviour and has made the location undesirable for many people to now use as a public beach.’

When I was a kid, my father always used to sunbathe nude in our garden at weekends. In public pools, children of all ages were allowed to run around naked all the time.
Even today, I’m comfortable with getting naked in the sauna or gym changing room. Maybe it’s because I’m German.
Nudism is traditionally popular in Germany, a country considered buttoned up and conservative compared with, let’s say, Italy.
In Germany, nudism is known as Freikoerperkultur (FKK), Free Body Culture. Baring all is normal in saunas, swimming pools, the park and on the beach.

Cont…Read full original article…

We’ll sketch you a scene here: A beautiful Tuesday afternoon , there’s a beach on Antiparos, one of the amazing Cyclade islands in Greece. The sun is high in the sky, the water is in different shades of blue and the soft sands are calling to put down your towel.
The reason why you picked this beach and not one of the many others on the island is because it’s one of the only official nudist beaches in all of Greece and once you got to the place you were happy to see the sign saying “official nudist beach since the seventies”. When you looked a bit further a more unpleasant sight caught your attention… Textiles.
So you walk down the beach, past the hordes of textiles, spotting a single nudist here and there and you wonder “what happened?”. Until you pass a dune and there, in a small secluded area where the beach is more rocky and less shady you’ll find the nudists. Packed together.
Does this sound familiar?
Unfortunately, to many of you it must do. Based on the reactions we often get when we write the 724th blog post in favour of clothing optional. Many nudies have the idea that textiles are taking over their beaches, chasing us away or into a corner. Cont…Read full original article…

The Young Nudists of Australia are bringing naked mini golf to Sydney
A GROUP of young Aussies are trying to show that naturism isn’t just for old folks. A Sydneysider is leading the charge.
THINK of nudists and you might conjure an image of jiggly, leathery old folks playing volleyball.
But Sydneysider Matt O has made it his mission to change that. He and a few friends founded the Young Nudists of Australia in 2016, with the aim of introducing 18-40 year olds to benefits of getting together, and getting nude.
The group quickly amassed a membership of over 350 people interested in exploring the nudist lifestyle.
Matt says being nude is a “hugely empowering and liberating experience” and one of the greatest equalisers in modern-day society.
“I’m healthy but not overly skinny but if anybody thinks only physically stunning people try naturism, one visit to a nude beach or resort and they will see that isn’t true.
“Once I realised that myself, it makes you feel so much better about yourself. Nobody is judging you, nobody is critiquing you and that just makes you feel so accepted. That feeling of acceptance is why I love it. Cont…Read full original article…

Cont…Read full original article…

In some of the first articles on this website we told you how we experienced our first time nude among others and how we accidentally landed on a nudist campground. This is pretty much how we rolled into it. At the time we didn’t ask ourselves too many questions about this, it was what it was, and we enjoyed it. Only later, after talking to several other nudists and after reading about it on the web, it occurred to us that we were actually pretty lucky because we were born in a country where nudism is quite accepted and because we both stepped into it together. We hear so many stories where one partner really had to convince the other to give it a shot, sometimes resulting in a life long nudist couple but other times the answer would remain a plain “No” and so there was one more closet nudist. Or worse.
In several other articles we’ve tried to give you some reasons to engage into nudism. 7 Reasons to become a nudie is such an example, but also in Undress to destress or Improve your body acceptance by going nude we’ve been talking a lot about the advantages of being a nudist.
All of the philosophies which you can find in above articles are not ours of course. But because we strongly believe in them, we’ve brought them to you in our own words.
Sometimes, however, a smart ass will ask us: “Yeah, yeah, we know about the feeling of freedom and the equality and the lack of tan lines and stuff like that, but tell me, why did YOU decide to be nudists?”
And they don’t want to hear the stories about how we accidentally rolled into it, they want to know why we stuck to it, why we got interested in it, to such an extend that we even started writing about it. Cont…Read full original article…

Beaches, for many sand-loving humans, are glorious paradises. Ideal areas to sunbathe, swim, play volleyball or simply hang out – and in some places, let it all hang out. We’re referring, of course, to nude beaches.
Nude beaches are exactly what you think. They’re places where people congregate for typical recreational beach activities, but instead of covering up with bathing suits and towels, everything is on full display.
Let’s settle one critical point straight right away — nude beaches aren’t typically a pornographic hodgepodge of hedonism or voyeurism. They are, quite simply, a lot like regular beaches, only some people are naked instead of clothed. Cont…Read full original article…

Life is full of opportunities. Some you jump at, go after, grab. Others, you take a pass, let go. Hopefully that decision is made after careful consideration. But sometimes time isn’t on your side and you have to go with a gut reaction. But when you do have time, you need to make sure your decision is based on sound reasoning, on facts, on “the important stuff”. Unfortunately, for many, decisions are often made on supposition, misconception, misunderstanding, and emotions like fear and lack of self confidence and self esteem. Those decisions can lead to the R word — regrets.
Regrets….well, they suck. Just no other way to put it. Wishing you had done something, tried something, said something different than what you did, can be hard to live with. It’s like a recurring nightmare that pops into your head every now and then to remind you — you make mistakes, your not infallible, and this one time…..you blew it. Great, thanks. Experiencing the memory of a regret leaves you hollow, again, kicking yourself for the decision you made, no matter how understandable it might be.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. The way I try to look at events like these aren’t as a regret, a moment where I blew it. But as a time where I learned a lesson in how not to do something. What’s that old quote about Edison inventing the light bulb and not having success after many attempts. “I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. He didn’t regret those 10,000 times. He learned from them. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have liked to have had success on attempt #1. It just means he didn’t dwell on all the misses. He kept moving forward. Cont…Read full original article…

Byron Bay is renowned as a global destination for free-spirited tourists, but locals say a clothing-optional beach to the town’s north is attracting sexual predators.
Colleen Graham lives at Tyagarah, just off the Pacific Highway in northern New South Wales, and said she could no longer walk through the local nature reserve or along the beach without being confronted or harassed.
“I’ve had a range of encounters. The most common one is lying on my towel reading a book and a naked man moving his towel very close to me and masturbating,” she said. Cont…Read full original article…

Israeli Olympic swimmer’s new innovation lets you skinny dip without being totally exposed
Have you ever wanted to go skinny dipping but were too embarrassed to expose your private parts to the entire beach? Guy Barnea, an Israeli Olympic swimmer, found a solution with his new innovation: a floating clothes hanger upon which people may hang their swimsuits deep in the water and retrieve them before returning to the beach.
Israeli Olympic swimmer Guy Barnea has come up with a new innovation aimed at helping those interested in skinny dipping without exposing their private parts to the entire beach: a floating clothes hanger. The innovation, which is currently in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign, proposes to install floating clothes hangers within the ocean’s waters, where those interested in skinny dipping can leave their bathing suits in order to swim naked. However, the catch is that they will be able to wear their swimsuits before and after entering the water without showing off their goods to other beach-goers.
“Following a video shoot that included skinny dipping, I was surprised by the liberating pleasure that this experience provided everyone, which is completely different from the experience of swimming in bathing suits,” Barnea explained. “In my opinion, this is a business potential that has not properly been realized to date. Many people will pay for the experience, just as they are used to paying for enjoyable experiences such as watching a movie or eating at a restaurant.” Cont…Read full original article…
