Wear Nothing But A Smile: Prominent Nude Activist Turner V. Stokes Dies At 90

Turner V. Stokes’ favorite outfit was when he was wearing — as he liked to say — nothing but a smile.

The 90-year-old leader of various nudist organizations died Saturday from prostate cancer in Nanjemoy, Md.

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1927, Stokes enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and later worked for military contractors testing electronic equipment.

He told the Washington Post’s Lee Hockstader in 1984 that when he was younger, he sometimes went skinny-dipping with his cousin in the Chesapeake Bay and remembered as a teenager seeing his first nudist magazine, called Sunshine and Health. But it wasn’t until he turned 50 that he persuaded his wife at the time to join him at a nudist camp in Pennsylvania.

The Post reports that he said he was drawn to nudism for its “physical feeling,” which he felt was “mentally stimulating” and gave a “feeling of freedom.”

In the 1980s, Stokes fancied himself a “naturist,” which, he explained to the Post, was different from a “nudist.” Naturists preferred to be nude in nature — not confined to a camp or resort like nudists. Continued…Read full original article…

What Is It Like To Be A Male Naturist?

Naturism is often controversial. Although our polling has shown a positive public reception, often the fringe opinions matter most. Those with the loudest voices are heard, and unfortunately the law is misunderstood. Stigma still exists, and especially for men. And let’s face it, a naked man will always raise more concern than a naked woman. So what is it really like to live as a Male Naturist? What are the pitfalls and what does it mean to stand out? We sat down with ‘M’ from Belgium to find out.

‘Not everyone understands naturism.’ – M, Male Naturist.

M is an independent Consultant from Belgium, and began his journey in Naturism twenty-five years ago. Like many, his experience began with a naked sauna and swimming. He recounts his memories fondly Continued…Read full original article…

Nude feud: cracks appear at naturists’ colony

A couple ejected from a nudist colony for renovating a bush cabin have laid bare their wrangle with the club as part of legal action over $80,000 in damages.

The Helios Society nudist club in the Dandenongs has extensive grounds to explore sans clothes.

Fiji-based Robert and Alwyn Nink, both 57, joined the Helios Society in the Dandenong Ranges in 2016, thinking it was an ideal place to escape from the world with like-minded nude enthusiasts.
However, the experience has left the Ninks feeling anything but liberated, as a battle to upgrade their cabin turned into a nasty feud with the nudist club’s secretary that led to allegations of cups of urine being left on a table. Continued…Read full original article…

Fuerteventura – A Naturist Holiday with Holly

I remember my first naturist break away from the “real” world five years ago. I went to a naturist campground and spent five days in a setting which only required that I wear clothing when I got cold [it happened – Canadian prairies in early June]. I did have to put on clothing when I left the sanctuary of the Green Haven Sun Club. Years later, my wife and I went to Costa Natura in Spain for two weeks. Like at Green Haven, once I left the grounds of the large naturistcommunity, nudity wasn’t an option.

Clothing required – but when an opportunity presents …
Clothing required – but when an opportunity presents …

Holly, my Twitter friend, has just returned from her first naturist holiday to a site in Fuerteventura. And as to be expected, once outside the complex and away from the clothing optional beach, she wore clothing. And, as you can see in the photo, she accepted that condition with grace. In a recent post she stated: “I may be clothed but you don’t need to be naked to be a naturist – it’s a mindset not a state of dress!”

Now, I have to confess that I cross the line from naturist site to clothed [textile] site and find myself daring to go nude, taking risks. Of course, I try to be extra careful in setting up the photo scene. An example was yesterday when I visited my friends at Prairie Suns Naturist Club. On the way home, which I was doing while driving nude, I stopped at a creek which had overflown its banks – Eagle Creek. There, I again set up my camera and took a photo, just one photo, of myself in front of the creek. I was seen by two separate passing motorists. Luckily, no one stopped to investigate.

Continued…Read full original article…

A toast to naturism in a hotel in Britain
On a warm hot tub in the back garden of the first naturist spa hotel Britain, the champagne corks are popping.

The owner Tim Higgs, with a flute in his hand, is resplendent among the bubbles. Behind us, indifferent to drizzle of Birmingham, a naked couple reclining on lounge chairs, their faces are buried in copies of the magazine British Naturism and OK !. Elsewhere wander lonely men of middle age, with his arms dangling at their sides.

This is the scene feared by a group of local conservative councilors and residents who opposed the liquor license granted to the Clover Spa & Hotel. Appealing to the Birmingham City Council, they said that allowing the sale of drinks could lead to “an increase in inappropriate behavior and demonstrations of the meat” at the hotel, which opened in the suburb of Erdington in 2011. But the complaints did not give very sure. Following an important licensing committee meeting this week, Higgs is now free to sell alcohol to his guests Continued…Read full original article…

Nudist reveals the one thing that will get you thrown out at one of Britain’s oldest naturist camps
A regular at one of Britain’s oldest naturist clubs has revealed what action could see people asked to leave and what activities are available inside the camp

A nudist has revealed the one thing that will get people thrown out of one of Britain’s oldest naturist clubs.

Mo Thomas, a regular at the Yorkshire Sun Society, says the club doesn’t have many rules but anyone who gets “sexually stimulated” is asked to leave.

“We will give them a period to cool off but otherwise they have to go,” Mo said.

The naturist club in Hull is one of the oldest in the country after it was established in 1932.

It effectively runs a holiday camp for its naked members set in 26 acres of idyllic woodland, the Hull Daily Mail reports. Continued…Read full original article…
