Cornwall’s bathing waters score a 100 per cent pass rate against tougher new standards

All of Cornwall’s beaches have made the grade against tough bathing water quality standards, according to figures published by the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs.

Of the 142 designated bathing waters assessed in Devon and Cornwall just three in Devon have been rated as ‘poor’ under new standards introduced in 2015, which are twice as tough as in previous years.

In Falmouth, Gyllyngvase and Swanpool were rated excellent with Maenporth coming in as good while Church Cove, Coverack, Kennack Sands, Poldhu, Polurrian Cove, Porthleven and Praa Sands were also all rated as excellent. Continued…Read full original article…

Cornwall has been voted as the top ‘go to’ holiday destination in Britain

Cornwall has yet again proven its charm after it was voted as the number one holiday destination in the whole of Britain.

A total of 1,500 British people were polled on their favourite getaways and Cornwall led the way, taking the top spot.

Germans who flock to south west confused over difference between Devon and Cornwall (there’s plenty!)

For centuries Devon and Cornwall have been split by an intense rivalry over their distinctive charms, their inhabitants arguing over anything from whether jam or clotted cream goes first on a scone to which one invented the pastie.

And that’s before they move on to who has the best coastline or the finest towns and villages.
