Why Germany’s nudist culture remains refreshing
From lakes to saunas and parks: Is Germany’s nudist culture, known as FKK, dying out or still making waves? It’s still strong enough to inspire a change of attitude for Berlin-based expats.

At first glance it seems like a regular beach scene: Children running in and out the water, sandwiches being passed around families and couples sunning themselves.

But on closer inspection most people at Krumme Lanke, a lake in the south west of Berlin have something in common.

In certain parts of Germany, this is still a normal scene today

They aren’t wearing a scrap of clothing. And it’s a non-event. No one cares and no one is surprised. There’s nothing sexy about it. It’s 25C; it’s a very hot spring day and there’s really no need for clothing if you don’t feel like wearing it. Continued…Read full original article…

Life drawing artists and nude models tap into creativity at pub venue
It’s a quiet Monday evening at a pub in Sydney’s inner-west and there is about to be some nudity — but it’s all in the name of art.

This will be only the second time Lulu has attended the life drawing group that meets at the Friend in Hand Pub in Glebe.

Although she had three years of modelling experience in art spaces, there was hesitation when she initially answered a call to pose at the licensed venue.

Readily available stage lighting and heating can make pubs good locations for life drawing, especially during winter.

“I was nervous. I wasn’t sure about where the class would be held,” Lulu said.

“I was curious as to what kind of crowd it would bring and if that would affect my position as a model.

“It’s a vulnerable position enough to be getting naked in front of a group of strangers and presenting yourself in that way, let alone people who have been drinking.” Continued…Read full original article…

Naked and Unafraid
I bared it all — for this story — and I loved it

There was a time in my life when being naked was normal. My first four years were spent almost entirely in the nude, joined at the hip by my twin sister — her name is Mary Scott, although I call her Sissy. She also calls me that. Sorry for the confusion. The two of us would strip to our birthday suits every time our mom tried to put us in matching outfits. We didn’t mind the matching; it was the suffocating feeling of being clothed that we couldn’t stand.

Illustrations by Tim Banks

Growing up in rural Virginia, we played in the creek and the mud, ran through our yard chasing big dogs, sat on our porch eating popsicles, all while being naked. As we got older we wore more clothes, but we never lost sight of the freedom of being naked. We would skinny dip off of our friends’ docks, taking turns stashing each others’ clothes, collapsing in laughter in the frantic search for a cover-up under the revealing light of a full moon.

We got older and more self-conscious, struggling with body image issues, my sister especially, punishing herself for years with a restricted diet and obsessive workouts. It hurt me to see my sister struggle, and naturally, being her identical twin, I struggled to keep up, wanting our bodies to look the same forever. Our latter teenage and college years were riddled with various body issues. After a while, I didn’t like being naked anymore. Continued…Read full original article…

Monmouthshire naturist club hopes to attract more residents to join

A MONMOUTHSHIRE naturist club hopes to encourage more residents from the area to join and will hold an open day at its Trellech site on Saturday June 16.

Western Sunfolk currently welcomes naturists from as far afield as Ireland and The Netherlands but wants to attract more people from closer to home.

Naturist Site
Naturist Site

“It’s a wonderful community where everyone looks after each other”, said Ros Clow, who first visited Western Sunfolk with her husband in 1972.

The group’s members take part in the planning, building, and upkeep of all the site’s facilities.

The June 16 event is open to guests of all ages and includes a variety of activities from boules and croquet to sunbathing and swimming.

There will also be the opportunity to try out miniten, a tennis-like game created by, and for, naturists.

Ros is keen to stress to anyone interested that there is no sexual element to naturism, and that the environment at Western Sunfolk is family-friendly. Continued…Read full original article…

A History of Nudity in Paganism, Wicca and Witchcraft
A Fig Leaf of our Imagination

There are countless quirks about humans, but one of the real doozies is that most are confused, divided and downright ditsy when it comes to their own physical nature. To millions, the human body in its natural state is embarrassing, shameful, indecent or undignified. Its exposure provokes hostility, fear, nervous laughter or mockery. It threatens social standing, challenges order, infringes laws and is often punished with a severity bizarrely incommensurate with the offence.

The Golden Age by Lucas Cranach the Elder circa 1530
The Golden Age by Lucas Cranach the Elder circa 1530

The really odd thing about this is that it’s not generally considered odd at all. The necessity of concealing bits of the human body is taken for granted in precisely the same way that the need to provide animals with trousers isn’t. And they call Pagans irrational and superstitious.

Witches, Druids, and Pagans of many other species tend to be among the minority who don’t buy into humanity’s alienation from its unembellished form, recognizing this to be both symbolic and symptomatic of a desperately unhealthy estrangement from nature. Partly for that reason, as you’re reading this, several thousand Witches and Pagans around the world will be casting their Circles, wearing no more than they wore in the womb. Midlife as a Gift of Renewal – Welcome to Naturism

Today’s post features Lanie, a professional model from the U.K. who has been gracious enough to allow me to bring her photos here. Today’s topic doesn’t speak about her life or state-of-being, but her photos do evoke some of the mystery and depth of humanity that is the theme of today’s post.

Though I experienced naturism first as a teenager, it never became anything but a rare escape from life’s complexities for the next few decades. Then midlife came and shook up the world as I knew it. I didn’t think so then, but now upon looking back, I’m grateful for this pivotal part of my history. Continued…Read full original article…

Lorca beach acquires official nudist status as of 1st June
Cala Junquera is a picturesque cove on rocky coastline of Lorca

The Spanish Naturism Federation lists as many as 10 nudist beaches in the municipality of Lorca, including, rather surprisingly, the Playa de Puntas de Calnegre, which is backed by a row of beachfront restaurants, but in terms of official Town Hall designation it is only as of 1st June 2018 that the first nudist beach in Lorca is officially recognized.

After much deliberation, the beach decided on is Cala Junquera, one of a series of small coves at the foot of the rugged cliffs and rocks which constitute the lower slopes of the mountains of the Loma de Bas. This location provides some spectacular backdrops from Puntas de Calnegre in the north-east, on the boundary with Mazarrón, to Playa Larga, which is very close to the municipality of Águilas in the south-west. Irish nudists plan to kick BUTT this World No Tobacco Day by gathering on Wicklow beach to fight cigarette-ends problem
Birthday suit buffs will gather on a beach near Brittas to attack the rubbish issue

IRISH nudists plan to kick BUTT this morning for World No Tobacco Day.

Birthday suit buffs, who recently celebrated the awarding of a skinny dip spot, will gather on a beach near Brittas, Co Wicklow, to fight the fag-ends problem.

It comes as the Irish Naturists Association prepares to celebrate Ireland’s first ever flesh-friendly dip site.

Earlier this year, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council agreed to erect public notices at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey, south Co Dublin, warning others about bare-cheeked bathers.

We revealed the move followed law changes which mean naked swimmers are doing nothing illegal. And ahead of the official unveiling of the signs, naturists want to attack the rubbish issue. Continued…Read full original article…

Two listeners share details about their naturist lifestyle with Rian
A married couple from Pretoria spoke to Rian about why they prefer living life in the buff.

Have you ever wondered how your neighbours really live behind closed doors?

Away from the school events and the church bazaars, you would be quite surprised to find out how they spend their time.

And if you happened to find out that your neighbours were naturists, then you might have to re-evaluate your friendship with them. Or, would you?

Estelle* and Pieter* from Pretoria visited the Scenic Drive to talk to Rian van Heerden and the team about what it really means to follow the clothes-free lifestyle. Continued…Read full original article…

Continued…Read full original article…

Mr Robinson is conducting interviews for membership as part of his homecoming.

“There are three groups of nude lifestyle people, there’s the home, domestic people and they wear whatever they want to in Mackay,” he said

“Then you have what you call event nudists like we used to do at Alexandra Bay beach carnival, we would have up to 700 people down there.

The Naturist Talks: Kim & Peter From Australia

One of the main reasons why we started this project is to show the world that naturists are not some strange dark commune but that actually everyone could be one… Or could enjoy being one if they took the first step.

Our main example of “everyone” is of course ourselves, we write posts about naturism in general but also about our own experiences. But some of you might be thinking “Yes sure, those two are probably just the strange kids in the block…” (nah, we know you’re not thinking that about us, but we’re trying to write an introduction here). So we decided to let other naturists have a word as well.

So please sit back and get inspired! Continued…Read full original article…

Nude gallery visit an ‘incredible success’
Waiting list of 30,000 for Paris event which follows opening of naturist zone in park and naturist restaurant

Naturists have hailed their first nudist visit to a Paris art gallery as an “incredible success” with a waiting list of 30,000 but only 161 visitors allowed in.

Numbers were kept strictly limited for the closed-doors event at the Palais de Tokyo Centre d’Art Contemporain, which was held before normal opening hours when ‘textiles’ arrived.

Naturists from as far as the US arrived fully-clothed then undressed in a side room before viewing the Discorde, fille de la nuit exhibition. Guided groups of six were led by uniformed gallery staff to see works by such as Kader Attia, Neil Beloufa and Jean-Jacques Lebel.

Later, they had a celebratory drink, naked, on the roof of the gallery that looks over to the Eiffel Tower.

The Association des Naturistes de Paris hailed the visit as an “incredible moment, what a success!”

It added: “Mentalities are changing and naturism is becoming normal. For this visit, we had many young people; delighted women and men.” Continued…Read full original article…

What it feels like: Irish naturist (50) on why she’s happier with her clothes off – even in the snow
With Ireland due to get its first official nudist-friendly beach, Hazel Newton (50) from Cork reveals what the news means to her and why she’s happier with her clothes off – even in the snow

Writer Rosie reveals how she used to be mortified by nudity — but has learned to love it
Being buck naked around strangers or even pals just isn’t the British way, is it? But the Europeans embrace it

I’M ON holiday in Berlin, sitting opposite a tattooed stranger, chatting about where we’re going clubbing tonight. He happens to be stark naked – and so am I.

This should be weird, but it isn’t. That’s because we’re in a spa where everyone is nude. All around me, bodies of all ages and builds are swimming, sitting, sweating and letting it all hang out, literally.

There are wobbly bums, big muscles and a fair few grey pubes on show – and nobody could care less, including me. But I wasn’t always like this. Continued…Read full original article…

The naturist trail: ‘Once you try it, there’s no going back’
Pat Gallagher, president of the Irish Naturist Association, and his wife, Mary, are among the few in Ireland willing to speak publicly about the lifestyle. They started off by accident, says Pat

You might think that nudists would be fairly visible and easy to track down. Isn’t there a latent exhibitionism in casting your clothes to the wind and stepping out mother-naked into the sunshine? An out-and-proud statement of personal freedom? But when I set out to find them, it turns out that many Irish naturists are keen to keep their identities, if not their bodies, firmly under wraps, and at least some of them are as slippery as eels.

Pat Gallagher at his home in Roscommon with Fionola Meredith
Pat Gallagher at his home in Roscommon with Fionola Meredith Brenda Fitzsimons

A prospective encounter with a secret group of nudists from north Co Antrim looks promising until it becomes clear that the price of meeting them was the surrender of my own clothes, in the interests of creating “a level playing field”.

“Go on: dare to bare,” they repeatedly urge me. When I decline, pleading a preference for private nudity – I have no problem leaping naked into the surf on a remote Donegal beach, and have done so, but I don’t want anyone else around to watch me do it – the trail suddenly goes cold.

Continued…Read full original article…

Nudist swims for kids defended as ‘safe, happy and healthy’
Ryedale Naturist Club offered children free tickets to its naked swims :: Leading naturists said the sessions are in children’s ‘best interest’

Naturists have jumped to the defence of naked child swim sessions, claiming they are in children’s “best interest”.

Leading lovers of nature hit back against “mass hysteria” prompted by Ryedale Naturist Club’s free swim offer to under 18s.

A council investigation was launched into the club after The Gazette disclosed details of an advert encouraging kids to swim nude alongside adults at Derwent Pool, near Malton, North Yorkshire .

References to children, and the club’s free entry offer, have since been deleted from the club’s website after a flurry of online anger.

But British Naturism (BN) stood by the sessions, saying: “A naturist environment is a safe, happy and healthy environment for a child to be a part of.

“Prudery, not openness or nudity, harms children.”

Andrew Calow, from BN Yorkshire, said it is in a child’s “best interest” to see real bodies rather than explore the internet.

He said: “Don’t let readers’ prejudices masquerade as facts. Naturism is a family activity enjoyed by people all over the world.

“Children are safe attending a naturist swim with their parents. They attend as part of a family unit.” Continued…Read full original article…

Early Start to Naked Gardening Day

I still have about a week or so before I can begin to work my garden, likely during the first days of May. My Montana friends, M and his good wife S have already managed to work their raised garden beds.

Early start to gardening au naturel with M&S
Early start to gardening au naturel with M&S

Gardening is all about the prep work as much as it is about planting seeds and gathering the harvest. During the winter, we save as much of our biodegradable organic material as we can, from coffee grinds, to egg shells, and the leavings of vegetable preparation. As soon as the snow melts, I spread the mixture onto the surface of the garden before tilling it into the soil as early as possible. Then, I turn the garden a second time just before it is time to plant seeds and whatever so that the soil is well mixed and ready for new plants. Then, just before we plant the seeds, I set up the climbing material for peas and any other climbing plant we should decide to try in the garden. Continued…Read full original article…

The influence of nudism on your relationship

We already knew that nudism has a positive influence on both our physical and mental health. Or at least, in case you already pick up enough vitamin D and are living a balanced lifestyle, it doesn’t have any negative side effects (if you use sunscreen of course!).

But how does nudism effect relationships? Some time ago we’ve read that the divorce rate among nudist couples is a lot lower than among textiles, what does that mean?
Does nudism itself has a direct influence?
Or are nudist couples sharing different values than textiles which are more likely to keep them together?
Maybe nudism is provoking these values? Continued…Read full original article…

Standard Deviations: ‘Nakationing’ — naked vacationing — is a thing?
They’re calling it “one of the fastest growing trends in both travel and recreation.” Me? I call it just plain awkward.

Apparently, the “nakation” is a thing now.

At least, that’s what the American Association for Nude Recreation would have us believe.

You’ve heard of the “staycation”? The “mancation”? Even the “praycation”? Well, get ready for the nakation, a trademarked combination of “naked” and “vacation.”

I know about the nakation because awhile back a friend forwarded to me an email from the aforementioned AANR — based in Kissimmee, Florida — announcing that the group has designated the second Saturday in July as International Skinny Dip Day. This raises two troubling questions, in my mind:

1. Isn’t it a tad presumptuous for a group calling itself the American Association for Nude Recreation to assume it has the authority to declare an International Skinny Dip Day? I mean, you’d think they’d at least get input from naked people in other countries before making such a bold proclamation.

2. Why would anyone send an email about skinny dipping to me, the guy about which there’s absolutely nothing that could even remotely be considered “skinny”? Continued…Read full original article

Nudity and Sensations

One of the more noteworthy observations I have made as a naturist is the sometimes feeling of being more naked than other times. When you are nude most hours of the day it almost becomes so commonplace that you forget it. You forget how special it is, because it has become the norm and isn’t really special anymore.

Mundane nudity
Mundane nudity

But some days I just feel more free than others. Some days my nudity is far more noticable. The breeze is just that much more sensational on my skin, the sun is that much warmer. Sometimes it’s just the blissful feeling of nothing. I just am. Naked. Open to the world. Continued…Read full original article…

Naked Utopia: how England’s first nudists imagined the future

The naked body is as old as humanity. But nudism as a social form, organised into clubs and societies, only came of age in England in the 1920s. Its practitioners were from a range of backgrounds and included those with interests in “physical culture” (today we would refer to this as body building and beauty contests). Many were interested in natural health, including vegetarian and raw food diets, and new exercise regimes from hiking to yoga.

Nudism was particularly embraced by artists and intellectuals as part of a wider set of progressive practices associated with free thought. Many were internationalists inspired by longer standing German nudist traditions, which were far more popular and organised on a larger scale than English efforts. They understood disrobing to be part of a wider ideal of physical, mental and spiritual liberation. Continued…Read full original article…

Naturist activities in Connaught, Ireland

I must admit that when I was first approached to put something in print about naturism in Galway I honestly did not know where to start. Naturism is around us, wherever we wish to find the opportunity. For me my home and my back garden present the ideal opportunities and as a result I spend most of my time nude. That is very easy for me, my house and garden are relatively private and being a naturist all of my life I am not really too upset if a neighbour just happens to see me from a distance from an upstairs bedroom window or whatever. I have lived in my present house for almost fifteen years and nobody has thus far objected or complained.

However most naturists are not as lucky as I and do not have the privacy. So how and where do they do to get that all over tan for themselves! They must travel to discrete and secluded places to enjoy their recreation and freedom. The Galway coastline is a rugged one, being constantly battered by the Atlantic Ocean. As a result the coast is in the main a rocky one and to a great extent devoid of sand. Those sandy areas that do exist are, in comparison to those on the sheltered eastern coast, small short stretches. However we also have numerous lakes that are suitable for naturism and nude recreation and I shall include these as well, ones that I have tried out on occasions. Nudists being welcomed to Irish leisure centres to use pools, saunas, steam rooms and even water slides as naturist community continues to grow
Indoor private nude swim sessions are growing in popularity across the country

NUDISTS have been hosted in seven swimming pools – including one with a slide – as the community grows in numbers across Ireland, we can reveal.

The latest new venue to rent out their facilities was Coral Leisure in Co Monaghan which allowed naturists to use its pool, sauna, steam room and even its water chute.

They used the venue last month and plan to do so again in April.

Manager Ciaran Murtagh said they had no complaints – and revealed he is happy to provide the fully-clothed lifeguard duties himself.

He said: “It is not exactly for me, but whatever you are into!

“No complaints. They are a private user group. They pay a rental fee to come in outside of normal opening hours. We have had no issues.” Continued…Read full original article…

Nudismo y mayores

Continued…Read full original article…

Nudity Isn’t Illegal in National Parks, But Don’t Do Anything Weird

Nature is glorious. It can make us feel a whole lot of ways — sometimes nature’s splendor makes us want to charge all the way up a mountain, or break out our stupidest dance move on the beach at sunset, or strip down to our birthday suits and skip through a field of wildflowers.

Signs prohibiting nudity are posted on San Onofre State Beach trails in North San Diego County, Calif. There's actually no federal regulation against it in national parks, but some states prohibit public nudity, so don't assume you are safe to strip down because you're in a national park.

But what happens when our deepest instinct is to strip down naked to take in a primeval forest or a spectacular mountain vista, in a place where a lot of other people are definitely going to be around to spectate? Like in a national park, for instance. Turns out, you wouldn’t be the first person ever to have that impulse. But like so many other impulses, it’s important to know whether it’s legal.

Continued…Read full original article…

Mother defends sharing bath with 10 and 11-year-old sons

A mother who shares baths with her 10 and 11-year-old sons is at risk of “confusing” her boys, a life coach has said.

Ben Edwards, who is a father himself, appeared on British breakfast programme This Morning to debate the issue of nudity in front of your children, and said that, as boys approach puberty, they “tend to fantasise about their mother”.

Journalist Lauren Libbert explained that she was naked in front of her sons and they bathed together often.

His comments came after journalist Lauren Libbert said she continues to bathe with her sons even though they are 10 and 11 – something she said is a “normal” and “enjoyable” part of their family routine, the Daily Mail reported.

Mother-of-three Holly Willoughby suggested Ben was “over-sexualising” the matter, but viewers watching at home appeared to agree with his point of view – tweeting that the mother-of-two’s decision to be openly naked in front of her children was “weird” and “not normal”. Irish Naturist Association chief Pat Gallagher explained: “Every other country in Europe has these kind of signs.

“It is a milestone for Ireland.”

The INA is in talks with a number of local authorities about getting similar signage placed at other beaches giving nude bathers the thumbs up.

The sign at Dalkey is flagged to be put up this month and comes following recent changes in the law which means that in-the-nip bathers are not doing anything illegal. Continued…Read full original article…
