Cyclists bare all for Golden Bay World Naked Bike Ridet

Nude cyclists bared all in Golden Bay this weekend to promote freedom and body awareness.

The World Naked Bike Ride on Saturday attracted about 30 naked cyclists from all over New Zealand and the world.

While the event started out 14 years ago as a protest to raise awareness for safer cycling conditions and sustainability, in Golden Bay it has slowly become a popular event for naturists, or nudists, and their clubs from around the country. Continued…Read full original article…

WNBR – Mexico City 2017

It’s been a month since the devastating earthquake in Mexico City, and let’s hope it will recover well, to be better than before. I saw quite a bit of this city in June during one of the most fun events imaginable: the World Naked Bike Ride! Already in my first ever WNBR – in Madrid 2009 – it was clear that such rides provide an amazing way to see the city, and in the company of hundreds naked (or so) people. Can you think of a better city tour? And it’s all for a great cause to promote cycling to be the major mode of urban transportation in response to ever increasing pollution and overpopulation. Nudity here helps to get the message across: cyclists use the pure power of human body (so, show that body!) – and yet we are the ones who are most prone to the truly indecent exposure to the traffic and vehicle pollution.

And it doesn’t hurt to get some more specific messages written on those naked bodies, so in the beginning of the event, many people spend time with body-painting and decorating themselves in other funny and creative ways. I had ‘energía pura’ written on my thigh, and this guy – ‘fragile’, another reminded to keep the distance of 1.5 m away from cars (‘distancia de autos 1.5 m’), others just acknowledged their love to cycling, etc etc. Continued…Read full original article…

Couple in their fifties share what it’s like to live a nudist lifestyle
An office worker fell in love with a fitness instructor after meeting online, and now like any couple, they spend their time enjoying all their shared interests together… except they do it completely naked.

49-year-old Richard Opperman has been a naturist since his twenties. He decided to swiftly add this into conversation when first talking to his now wife, Grace, 51. Soon after finding out about Richard’s preferences for being naked, she got in on the act, too.

PA Real Life/Collect

Grace, from Hampshire, who met Richard in 2008 recalled: ‘His way of telling me was by talking about a naked bike ride he’d done. ‘I thought, ‘You’ve done what?’ We’d been together for around a year when he told me. He asked if I’d want to do it too. At first, I declined, but, after thinking about it, I agreed to go on the naked bike ride with him, but only to go topless. Continued…Read full original article…

Cont…Read full original article…

Nature trail: exploring Germany’s largest island
Tranquil Rügen, off Germany’s Baltic coast, teems with nature – and naturists

Can the contrast between Britain and Germany be more stark than when it comes to public nudity? I come across it on my cycling tour of Germany’s largest island, Rügen, almost as soon as I pedal across the bridge that connects it to the mainland and the elegant Baltic port of Stralsund.

I’ve done just a few miles through shady woodlands and sleepy villages of quaint thatched cottages. There are cycle paths almost all the way and I’m enjoying myself. The sun comes out. In a lovely patch of forest, I swing off down an unmarked track. Who cares about directions? You can’t go wrong here, and I want to see the sea.

I emerge by the water and take a coastal path that soon degenerates into a boulder field. I carry the bike to a beach that is a metre wide, and on it, basking magnificently, is a middle-aged man with a pot belly that is almost a metre deep and sun-ripened to walnut brown. Not a stitch on him. I pause, then edge past. There is no one else around. He is the only person I can ask for directions. Cont…Read full original article…

A Lesson in Body Positivity
This past weekend I rode my bike completely nude with tens of thousands of strangers in Portland, Oregon.

For years, I thought I understood the reason for this wild parade of strangers: a protest on fossil fuel, bike rights and safety, and of course the biggest component of all: Getting naked to advocate for body positivity.

It wasn’t until I joined in on this spectacle that I became fully aware of the importance of the ride: In the past it felt enough to attend and show support just by being there. But my hangups over getting stripped down prevented me from joining in because, well, what if people look at me?

Well that’s kind of the point.

I couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that when I arrived in the park, I was searching for a tree or bush to get undressed behind.

Initially, I was too embarrassed to just take it all off in the middle of an open field among so many others who were already undressed. I reminded myself why I was there and forced myself to strip down, trying not to look like I was raised by a conservative East Coast family. My cheeks went red, but my body was relieved. It was after all, dusk and still 80+ degrees out. I stashed my clothes in my bag and started walking with my bike, trying not to stare at anyone, trying to get underneath why I was so uncomfortable. And then it hit me. Cont…Read full original article…
