‘Project Tits’, a visual reflection of awareness and fight against censorship

Audiovisual artist Berta García-Lacht started this proposal in 2016 by taking photos of 60 women between the ages of 18 and 85 in a small improvised studio for two years.

After 4 years, the series has been the protagonist of different solo exhibitions and has led the artist to win the 2019 Sigma Photo Spain award at the Enfocats festival in Barcelona. The intention is to keep it moving for a long time so that the message goes far.

Seeing breasts is common nowadays – except on social networks, of course – but we rarely find images of larger, smaller, hairy breasts, with stretch marks, scars, or a mastectomy.

García-Lacht realized this and this is how this project started, proposing to photograph the boobs that he felt were not represented. The idea of ​​going to see an exhibition that included all kinds of boobs had been around for a while in her head, but the reality is that it didn’t exist. And so he put his hands to work.
