Nude beach flap in St. Lucie County after deputy ordered family with 5-year-old to leave

Whenever the discussion turns to nudism — ahem — I recall an episode of the old “Bob Newhart Show” where Bob is to give a lecture at what turns out to be a nudist camp. The director — buck naked — is seated behind a desk in a big leather chair.

Bob asks: “Don’t you stick to your chair?”

And speaking of sticky situations involving nudists (sorry!):

"Everybody here is really open. Nobody cares that you don't have clothes on. And it's not a pick-up scene," said Kelly Spirito, of West Palm Beach, (center) who relaxes with friends July 11, 2015, at Blind Creek Beach, a clothing-optional beach, in Fort Pierce. Many people came out to celebrate National Nude Recreation Week with a group skinny dip.

Last week, our newsroom got an interesting email from Kai Luckan of Tampa. He, his wife and their 5-year-old daughter were visiting St. Lucie County and decided to spend New Year’s Day at Blind Creek Beach.

Which, if you didn’t know, is a nude beach.

Well, not officially; the county has never formally designated Blind Creek Beach as a “clothing optional” beach and there are no county signs identifying it as such. Visitors and folks from the Treasure Coast Naturists have used the beach sans “textiles” since 2014.

They tout its “family-friendly” atmosphere. Which is to say, sometimes there are nude kids on the beach, along with their parents. It’s never been a big deal.

It turned into one New Year’s Day when Luckan said his family was approached by a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputy who said he’d gotten a complaint about Luckan’s daughter — and the family had to leave.

“He said it was an adult-only beach,” said Luckan. Continued…Read full original article…

Hundreds of competitors prepare to bare all for glory at annual Maslin Beach Nude Games
While hundreds of people strip off at Australia’s oldest nudist beach this weekend for the annual Maslin Beach Nude Games, a nude aficionado has said Australia’s naked history comes from much more than fleshy frivolity.

Key points:

  • The nude games will be held at Maslin Beach in South Australia
  • Hundreds of nudists will compete in a range of events, including the best bum competition
  • A nudist historian says nudism in Australia was influenced by German settlers

Instead, keen nudist historian and editor of Australia’s nudist magazine “TAN” Stuart Whelan said Australia’s fondness for nude beaches stemmed from war and German settlement.

Australian troops once used nudism to mollify “putrid, humid” conditions in the Pacific, he said.

“During the World War [II] the soldiers often bathed and swam naked,” Mr Whelan said.

“A new generation came back with this experience which they wanted to try and emulate here.”

Organisers say the event brings the whole nudist community together.
Organisers say the event brings the whole nudist community together. DAVID PILLAR

Mr Whelan said the affinity with nude swimming was “reinforced by European migration”, especially German settlers who saw nudism as more normal.

“They brought those ideas and wanted to experience them in their new country and that was the start of the [nudism] movement in Australia.”

The large migration of Germans to South Australia likely influenced the creation of some of the country’s oldest nudist clubs.

“I’m sure that was one of the things that made the establishment of the earlier clubs a lot easier,” Mr Whelan said.

“It was something wanted by the German community.” Continued…Read full original article…

The first Paris restaurant for nude diners to close down
The French capital’s very first restaurant reserved exclusively for naked diners will close its doors in February just 15 months after opening due to a lack of the simple bare necessity: customers.

Paris’ very first nudist restaurant O’Naturel gave diners a place to leave their clothes and inhibitions at the door and its opening in November 2017 was hailed as evidence of the rising popularity of naturism in France.

But after little more than a year the restaurant, located in the 12th arrondissement, is set to close its doors for the final time in February… and it’s all down to a lack the bare necessity that all restaurants rely on: customers.

“It is with great regret that we announce the definitive closing of the O’Naturel restaurant on Saturday, February 16, 2019,” announced the owners, 42-year-old twins Mike and Stephane Saada.

“Thank you for having participated in this adventure by coming to dine at O’Naturel. We will only remember the good times, meeting beautiful people and customers who were delighted to share exceptional moments.” Continued…Read full original article…

‘Totally gutted’: Locals angry as nude beach in Australia set to stay

A councillor in Australia wants the local New South Wales government to intervene after the council voted to keep a remote Byron Bay beach optional of clothing.

Councillor Paul Spooner said the decision to keep the clothing optional declaration at Tyagarah Beach showed the council was “not listening” to locals.

Locals protested outside Byron Shire Council for the clothing optional declaration removed from Tyagarah Beach.

“They are elected as representatives for the residents and it’s clear to me that the residents of that community do not want a nude beach anymore,” he said.

Tyagarah Beach was officially made clothing optional 20 years ago after locals petitioned for a legal nude beach, and has been enjoyed by people keen for a skippy dip since then. Continued…Read full original article…

No male nudity on beaches please: Karnataka Women’s Commission Chief writes to CM
In her letter, Nagalakshmi Bai told the CM that male nudity on the beach was a threat to the safety of women and also posed a security threat.

The Chairperson of Karnataka’s Women’s Commission NG Nagalakshmi Bai, in a letter to the state’s Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, has come up with an unusual request – a dress code for men on beaches.

Nagalakshmi’s letter was prompted by the sight of nude men she saw at Gokarna Beach earlier this month when she was there for a holiday.

“I was in Gokarna three weeks ago and observed men walking around the beach nude. They should wear at least a little bit of clothing to cover themselves up,” she said, speaking to TNM.

In her letter, Nagalakshmi told the CM that male nudity on the beach “is not only posing a threat to the safety of women and children but also a security threat (sic)”.

She called for more police personnel to be posted on beaches for security reasons. “There are many women and children, including young women who are selling items in the beach, who are affected by this. There have been accusations of sexual assault against them,” she said. Continued…Read full original article…

Nudist ranch zoning appeal wins early victory at planning tribunal

The Township of Stone Mills failed in its bid to stop a planning appeal from a couple wanting to expand a clothing-optional campground.

In a decision released last week, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal denied the township’s application to have the couple’s appeal thrown out.

Yvonne Gibson of Freedom Fields Naturist Ranch says she is encouraged by a planning appeals tribunal decision that will let her continue to fight to expand a clothing-optional campground at a property near Tamworth

The validity decision doesn’t settle the matter, it only lets the case go on to a hearing, if necessary.

Last year, Yvonne Gibson and her husband, Hector Gravelle, started the process to have their 40-hectare property on Carroll Road rezoned to allow them to expand the campground at Freedom Fields Naturist Ranch, which they have operated without the proper zoning since 2012.

In April of this year, Stone Mills Township council voted 4-3 to refuse the rezoning application, a decision that went against recommendations from township staff and consultants report. Continued…Read full original article…

Plans for Ireland’s first official nudist beach given bum’s rush following objections from residents
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council was about to erect public notices at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey to warn people of potential nude bathers

Plans for Ireland’s first official naturist-friendly beach have been given the bum’s rush following objections from residents, we have now learned.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council was about to erect public notices at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey, Co Dublin, to warn others about seeing bathers in the buff.

There had been plans to make the area naturist-friendly

But our revelations led to a flurry of complaints including a petition signed by 33 locals opposed to the becoming a “Nudist Friendly Area”.

As a result, the plans have now stalled as officials wish to get the views of councillors “before any further action”.

Irish Naturist Association chief Pat Gallagher had hailed the move as a “milestone for Ireland”, saying: “Every other country in Europe has these kind of signs.”

The signage — to forewarn about seeing punters wandering about starkers — came as a shock to the community who were not informed of the move. Continued…Read full original article…

Australia has the worst relationship with the cancer, with 8.3 deaths from it per every 100,000 people, followed by Slovakia and Slovenia. The UK ranks 15th with 4.2.

And the rates are worse, sometimes more than twice as bad, among men – in Britain and Spain 70 per cent more men are dying of skin cancer than 30 years ago.

Experts say this could be because men are less likely to use sun cream or protect themselves properly from the sun’s damaging UV rays. Continued…Read full original article…

WATCH: How I punched shark to escape attack at nudist beach

Sydney – A surfer who got bitten by a shark at an Australian nudist beach managed to make his break for freedom after punching the creature until it let him go, he said Saturday.

Paul Kenny was riding the waves off Samurai Beach, a naturist spot 200 kilometres (125 miles) north of Sydney, when he accidentally clashed heads with the toothsome fish, reportedly a wobbegong or a bull shark.

“As soon as I did that he latched onto my arm and all I could do was punch it until it let go,” Kenny, 50, told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

“When I let go of it I saw its dorsal fin one metre away. I walked backwards as quick as I could and caught whatever wave I could.” Continued…Read full original article…

Nudists get reprieve as popular beach near Byron Bay has its optional-clothing rule renewed despite complaints about ‘lewd behaviour’
A popular nudist beach has only just held onto its ‘clothing optional’ rule today Byron Bay council staff attempted to revoke rule after ‘lewd behaviour’ reports.
A busier beach was set to replace as there would be more ‘passive witnesses’

Nudists are rejoicing after a popular beach had its ‘optional-clothing’ rule extended today despite strong opposition by some councillors and residents.

Byron Bay’s council staff had recommended Tyagarah Beach’s nude bathing option be revoked amid reports of ‘lewd sexual behaviour’.

'The idea that children can’t walk from Tyagarah to Main Beach and feel safe is obviously pretty concerning,’ Councillor Michael Lyon for the Greens said, revealing that the beach's remoteness made it more likely for 'lewd sexual behaviour' to occur

However the motion to enforce clothing was opposed and the beach will continue to welcome naked swimmers and sunbathers.

Council agreed to maintain the status quo but ordered a review of the position on a monthly basis for the next six months.

The council also discussed further key actions which could prevent future incidents which included the introduction of security cameras. Continued…Read full original article…

Reading Naturist Group say they have been defeated by the ‘uncaring’ management of Reading Borough Council
SWIMMERS have decided to call time on their weekly gatherings after four decades due to financial constraints.

Members of Reading Naturist Group (RNG) say they have been defeated by the ‘uncaring’ management of Reading Borough Council (RBC).

The group previously gathered at Arthur Hill Pool before the 105-year-old facility was closed in October 2016.

Meetings were moved to The Meadway Sports Centre in Tilehurst, but a hike in prices has seen a decline in the number of members.

Mark Young, a member of RNG, said: “The naturist swim would almost certainly have remained significantly better attended at The Meadway if the council had not disrupted the dynamic of the existing group by refusing to offer a swimming session on Thursday evening, the day the swim previously took place at Arthur Hill and instead insisting on the swim moving to Friday evening.

“This is even though many of the council’s own public swimming sessions in the late evening at The Meadway seemed to have a lower attendance still than the swimming session run by RNG.”

The last meeting of RNG was held on October 5 after members were originally due to meet three weeks previously. Continued…Read full original article…

Organic and all-natural – Man spotted gardening in nude at Ipswich allotment

Gardening can be a great opportunity to get outside, feel the earth under you feet, the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin.

But one Ipswich allotment owner has taken things a step further – and has been seen nude as they tend to their patch.

Reports of a person fully exposed on the field on the edge of town has led Ipswich Borough Council to advise public allotment users to keep their clothes on while on site.

The incident is said to have occurred at the town’s London Road allotment field.

Rain had deterred many of the fairweather gardeners on Thursday morning – but braving the weather and appropriately dressed in a cap, waterproof, jeans and boots was Ken Mann.

“I’ve never seen anyone in the nude here,” said Mr Mann, 65, of Dickens Road.

“It’s definitely not for me.

After lengthy trial, nudists evicted from Nuuanu rental home
After a months-long dispute over naked parties at a Nuuanu rental home, a judge has decided the controversial tenants will be evicted.

Neighbors have dealt with all manner of chaos at the home, from parties like Naked Taco Tuesday to a website called “ipartynaked” to a mysterious car fire to bizarre screams and sounds.

Neighbor David Brown, a retired military chaplain, says he’s called police multiple times

Sources have told Hawaii News Now police are also investigating allegations of criminal activity at the home, but have made no arrests.

Tenant Amy Highmoor, meanwhile, says the property manager and neighbors are retaliating against them because of their alternative lifestyle and for her complaints about the condition of the home.

Southleigh Manor nudist holiday park near Newquay is up for sale
If you like your hols in the buff then this place is for you

The largest naturist holiday park in Cornwall is up for sale.

Southleigh Manor holiday park at St Columb Major, near Newquay, has been brought to the market.

The holiday business, where being in the buff is de rigueur, could be yours to own for a cool £1.1 million after owners Bob and Kathy Prescott decided to throw in the towel and enjoy a well-earned retirement.

The pair, who have been running the bare-all holiday park for 18 years, said they made up their mind to sell the site following the recent birth of their grandson, Harry.

Mr Prescott, now 69, said: “We’ve always liked Cornwall ever since coming down here on holidays. We came here to the park 19 years ago and the people who had it were struggling.

“After a conversation we ended up buying up the place. It turned out to be a very expensive holiday but we’ve done well out of it. But with my wife not being in the best of health and the birth of our grandson, we feel it’s time to enjoy our retirement and take it easy a bit more.”

Mr Prescott said that while there have been a few expressions of interest for the site already – which he could not divulge – he is not sure whether any new owners will want to keep the business au naturel as it currently is. Continued…Read full original article…
