Woman, 52, is the ‘happiest she’s ever been’ after ditching clothes to become a naturist
A WOMAN has opened up about how “whipping of her clothes off” helped her regain confidence after “everything went wrong at the same time”.

Jane Baker, a first aid trainer, hit rock bottom after losing her job and relationship.

But when the 52-year-old spotted an advert in a local paper for an event at a naturist B&B, it all changed for her.

Now the mum-of-four admits that stripping off at the nudist hog roast party changed her life.

Speaking about the experience, Jane, from Carmarthen, South West Wales, said: “I stuck out like a sore thumb when I arrived. [It was] surrounded by three dozen or so strangers, all completely nude.

“But after I whipped off my clothes I felt the most comfortable I had in years.”

HAPPY: When she began naturism it changed her life
HAPPY: When she began naturism it changed her life

Jane, whose confidence was at an all-time low, will never forget her first foray into nudity.

She added: “Everything seemed to be going wrong at the same time and I knew I wanted to get away from it all, but I couldn’t afford a holiday abroad so decided to look for somewhere closer to home, which was when I found Acorns [Naturist Retreat in Tiverton, Devon].

“Driving down there I had to pull over twice and collect my thoughts – I was nervous beyond belief. When I finally got there it turned out to be one the most surreal moments of my life.

“On one side of me was a woman absolutely starkers doing her knitting by the pool, on the other side of me was a gentlemen in the buff doing the Telegraph crossword.”

“But the thing that struck was that, after 10 minutes, I completely forget that everybody was naked and started seeing people for who they are.

“That’s the beauty of naturism. When you take your clothes off you’re quite literally taking away the barriers and that’s the best way to meet new people.”

SEX ON THE BEACH: Why a Newbie Naturist Should NOT Visit Cap d’Agde!

We’ve been at least a half dozen times over the past twenty years, usually staying for two or three nights en route to another naturist destination. But this time, we were simply making a day visit with a couple friends – one a confirmed naturist, the other, new to the concept, but most certainty social nudity curious.

We did the best we could to prep them for this visit to the Naked City. For our naturist friend, this was something of a pilgrimage, having read so much about the most expansive naturist enclave in the world. And to be sure, depending where you’re looking on the internet, the place sounds like naturist Utopia. 24/7 nudity – in the shops, restaurants, and even in the post office. You can easily think you’ve got a good pulse on the place on the web without bumping into the language about foam parties and libertines (swingers) if you’re simply searching for the ultimate naturist destination.

The “Right to Bare All”… and other news from Ile du Levant

If you’re a keen advocate for naturism, and you haven’t yet made a visit to Ile du Levant, you need to move that up on your bucket list. It’s one of a handful of places that has self-identified as the birthplace of naturism. (Germany and Croatia contend for this distinction as well!) At the very least, it seems to be something of a naked renaissance town at the moment, but more about that later.

Part of the adventure of coming to the naked island in France is catching the ferry from the port of Le Lavandou. Since the boat makes two stops, one at Levant, and the other at neighboring Port Cros, it’s fun to play the “I wonder who will get off the boat on which island” game. This time, the boat was quite full, and nearly every person on board disembarked at the first stop – Ile du Levant!

Mind you, we had been in transit for nearly twenty-four hours having made our way from Newark Liberty Airport, through Brussels, then on to Marseille. After another two hours in the car, and a 40-minute ferry crossing, I was itching to embrace the late day Provençal sunlight, free from the bondage of North American travel-wear! Thirty meters up the path from the port, a quick bathroom stop, and voila! Naked!!

Is going topless legal on the Blue Ridge Parkway, like on a really hot weekend?
Imagine taking the family, including some pre-teens, on a lovely spring hike atop Craggy Pinnacle on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

You drive about 20 miles northeast of Asheville, climb through rhododendron tunnels and past giant rocks. You are breathless with excitement to see one of the prettiest summit sights in Western North Carolina, which sweeps across the rippling Blue Ridge Mountains.

When you get to 5,892-foot-high summit, you get an eyeful, all right.

But it’s not the kind the kids were expecting.

Hikers take in the view at the summit of the Craggy Pinnacle trail, Friday, June 15, 2018.

A reader recently reported she was on just such a hike recently, enjoying the 360-degree view, when a man and woman, perhaps boyfriend and girlfriend, were taking the obligatory stand-on-the-wall photos.

The woman went a step further – maybe wanting the full-on effect of nature’s cool breeze? – and took off her top and bra.

She proceeded to pose, wiggle and wave her arms in the air for photos while the unsuspecting family watched in disbelief.

So, was the fresh-air flasher breaking the law?

Technically, no.

Was it tacky? This outdoors reporter thinks, yes. Asheville might be the “Paris of the South,” but our mountaintops are not the French Riviera, folks.

Thousands fight to stop Soho’s iconic nudist-friendly Coach & Horses pub being taken over
Regulars fear their beloved boozer will become a ‘soulless chain outfit’

The landlord of Soho ’s nudist-friendly Coach & Horses pub says he feels “overwhelmed” after nearly 15,000 people signed a petition calling for it to be ‘saved’.

Pub company, Fuller’s, looks set to take over management of the historic boozer, known for becoming London’s first all-vegetarian and vegan pub.

Since opening in 1847, it has been a haunt for Spectator and Private Eye journalists, and was immortalised as the setting of a West End play about a writer’s gambling and sex-driven lifestyle.

But landlord Alastair Choat, 55, and daughter Hollie, 31, will lose their tenancy of the Greek Street tavern on June 23.

Drinkers and regulars responded en masse with more than 9,600 people signing a petition calling for the “beloved pub” to be saved, while another 5,000 signatures have been collected at the bar. They fear Fuller’s will turn it into a “soulless chain outfit”.

200 naked people vs the police: The battle to be nude on East Yorkshire beach
Fraisthorpe beach near Bridlington has long been associated with naturism

Fears new tourist attraction will expose children to nudists on Brighton beach

Families may get a bit of an eyeful when they try out Brighton’s latest tourist attraction.

A new 16-metre high rope walk and climbing tower has been approved at Peter Pan’s Adventure Golf on the seafront.

But police warned that children may be able to see nudists from the top.

Neville Wren, Designing Out Crime Officer at Sussex Police, said parents might be concerned about what their children might see.

He said: “This facility is most likely to provide activities for various age groups from school age children to adults. It is closer to the beach than Marine Drive or Dukes Mound, and from the raised platform positions it possibly provides closer views across the beach towards the Naturalist Beach nearby which in turn may cause unexpected concerns from the parents of young children.”

The section of naturist beach near the marina is signposted on the beach to warn passers by what they might see.

The rope walk was approved by planners at Brighton and Hove City Council. Continued…Read full original article…

Bare Market: More than 300 naturalists to go nude to Howe Caverns

Summertime is prime time for a visit to Howe Caverns, the hot-weather destination in Schoharie County that has lured thousands to partake in atmospheric spelunking 15 stories underground. From impressive rock formations to other geological wonders, Howe Caverns rates as a must-see.

On Saturday, July 14, however, there will be much more to see than stalactites and stalagmites. In celebration of International Nude Day, Howe Caverns will host “Naked in a Cave,” extending an offer to nudists to spend an evening engaged in au naturel activities. Even Sarah Danser, a survivalist star of the Discovery Channel’s cultish reality series Naked and Afraid, heard about Howe’s special occasion and will travel from Honolulu to the Cobleskill area to get in on the action.

HOWE CAVERNS
HOWE CAVERNS MICHAEL DAVIS/SYRACUSE NEW TIMES

It wasn’t hard to rouse attention for this unique event. Howe general manager April Islip simply posted the news on the venue’s Facebook page at the end of April, and she’s been fielding inquiries ever since. Islip said “Naked in a Cave” is a response to requests from nudist groups for years about holding such an event amid Howe’s natural surroundings.

So how far away are people traveling for this night? “We have a couple flying in from Chicago and a couple from the Washington, D.C., area,” Islip said, “and we have a big party coming from Virginia.”

Regarding the nudist enclaves that are closer to home, Islip noted, “We have a lot from the Massachusetts-Berkshires area, there are quite a few from Troy, and a lot from Rochester are coming.” The event is “close to a sellout,” Islip said at press time, with a maximum head count of 350. Naturists are invited to a giant picnic in Paris

If you’re a fan of shedding your clothes, you may be interested to learn that a giant picnic will be held in a public park in Paris to celebrate the inaugural Journée Parisienne du Naturisme (Parisian Day of Naturism). The event will take place on 24 June at the naturist area of the Bois de Vincennes, east of the French capital.

The event is being run by the ANP L’Association des Naturistes de Paris and the plan is that it will be held in future on the last Sunday of June annually. This year, a yoga class will be held at 11.30am followed by the picnic, and the event itself runs from 10am to 6pm. The naturist area at the park opened for two months in 2017, and has re-opened for six months this year, forming part of the city’s “open-minded vision for the use of Parisian public spaces.” The zone is open between 8am and 7.30pm near the park’s bird reserve until October.

Secret Garden – World Naked Garden(ing) Day 2018 in Ireland

In our preparation for World Naked Gardening Day, members of the event team visited Corke Lodge to assess its suitability as a venue. Alfred Cochrane, the owner was unfortunately abroad, however he had instructed his head gardener to show us around. We were immediately struck by its homely intimate character. Everything about it seemed to tick all the boxes: location, discreetness, layout.

This ‘ancient garden’ of box parterres was punctuated by architectural follies which emerge mysteriously from the dense boscage of evergreen oaks and American cedars. The writhing cork oak tree with deeply corrugated bark was the garden centre piece. We were informed that it’s apparently the oldest known cork oak tree in Ireland. On the northern side of the garden I came across a Sequoiadendron giganteum (Giant Redwood) which is rare in Ireland. Continued…Read full original article…

The naturist campsites in Wales where happy campers strip off for their stay
“The place to be when you’ve nothing on”

When you’re going camping, it’s important to pack essentials like a sleeping bag and a tent.

But if you’re visiting one of these places, you might want to unpack your clothes.

A number of naturist campsites can be found dotted across the country, and they encourage guests to embrace the naturist ethos by enjoying their stay in the nude.

Located in quiet and often rural areas, many of the sites provide camping pitches, campervan hook-up points and even cottages or chalets to rent.

Some also offer facilities such as hot showers, swimming pools and game courts.

But one thing they do all have in common is that they’re frequented by people who prefer being in the buff. Continued…Read full original article…

Naturist activities in Connaught, Ireland

I must admit that when I was first approached to put something in print about naturism in Galway I honestly did not know where to start. Naturism is around us, wherever we wish to find the opportunity. For me my home and my back garden present the ideal opportunities and as a result I spend most of my time nude. That is very easy for me, my house and garden are relatively private and being a naturist all of my life I am not really too upset if a neighbour just happens to see me from a distance from an upstairs bedroom window or whatever. I have lived in my present house for almost fifteen years and nobody has thus far objected or complained.

However most naturists are not as lucky as I and do not have the privacy. So how and where do they do to get that all over tan for themselves! They must travel to discrete and secluded places to enjoy their recreation and freedom. The Galway coastline is a rugged one, being constantly battered by the Atlantic Ocean. As a result the coast is in the main a rocky one and to a great extent devoid of sand. Those sandy areas that do exist are, in comparison to those on the sheltered eastern coast, small short stretches. However we also have numerous lakes that are suitable for naturism and nude recreation and I shall include these as well, ones that I have tried out on occasions. Nudity Isn’t Illegal in National Parks, But Don’t Do Anything Weird

Nature is glorious. It can make us feel a whole lot of ways — sometimes nature’s splendor makes us want to charge all the way up a mountain, or break out our stupidest dance move on the beach at sunset, or strip down to our birthday suits and skip through a field of wildflowers.

Signs prohibiting nudity are posted on San Onofre State Beach trails in North San Diego County, Calif. There's actually no federal regulation against it in national parks, but some states prohibit public nudity, so don't assume you are safe to strip down because you're in a national park.

SCHABEN/LA TIMES/GETTY IMAGES

But what happens when our deepest instinct is to strip down naked to take in a primeval forest or a spectacular mountain vista, in a place where a lot of other people are definitely going to be around to spectate? Like in a national park, for instance. Turns out, you wouldn’t be the first person ever to have that impulse. But like so many other impulses, it’s important to know whether it’s legal. Irish Saunas – 100 years behind

As we gathered at Dublin Airport on a cold damp, dark morning I found it hard to envisage that within a few short hours we would be sampling the delights of Europe’s largest spa, Therme Erding.

Stepping off the plane at Munich Airport we were immediately taken aback by the sharp drop in temperature. The snow began to fall as we took the last leg of the journey via taxi. Looking out at the snow-covered landscape it was hard to believe we were only minutes away from a Bavarian paradise. On arriving at Theme Erding I was struck by the pure scale of the dome like structure, and hundreds or cars in what seemed to be a completely full car park. Surely this could not be on a normal working day? Continued…Read full original article…

Popular beach in Cornwall has a very intriguing secret most tourists miss completely – and it’s only revealed at low tide
Crantock Beach in Cornwall has a secret that’s become the stuff of legends with locals, but it only becomes obvious at low tide

Crantock Beach in Cornwall has long been a hit with visitors for its sandy shores and swimming-friendly waters.

However, the far side of the beach is home to a host of small caves hidden amongst the rocks that you could easily miss if you didn’t know to look out for them – and they hold an intriguing secret.

CornwallLive / SWNS.com

The caves are only accessible during the low tide, but those who make the trip will discover a series of intricate carvings that have become the stuff of local legend.

Etched into the walls are carvings of the outline of a horse, the close-up of a woman’s face, and a pretty love poem that reads, “Mar not my face by let me be/Secure in this lone cavern by the sea/Let the wild waves around me roar/Kissing my lips for evermore”. The Popularity of Naturism in Spain Keeps Growing
All over Europe, more than 20 million people engage in naturism, or naturist tourism. Without having Spain as a competitor, countries such as Germany, France and Greece have made their way to the top of the list of naturist destinations. While in these countries there exists a more deep-rooted tradition, this type of tourism didn’t arrive in Spain until 1975 and its exploitation was paralyzed 10 years after it began. Naturism in Spain is lagging behind but it is developing fast.

According to a study conducted by “Hosteltur”, more than 30 000 people routinely engage in naturism in Spain and more than 500 000 do so occasionally. Despite the large number of interested people, the scarceness of offerings in Spain cannot keep up with the demand for naturist destinations.

The President of the Spanish Naturism Federation (FEM), Ismael Rodrigo, believes that the problem lies in an inadequate advocacy of naturism. “There are camping grounds, hotels and urbanizations geared towards naturists, but it has been months since these places have had any vacancies,” he explained.

Rodrigo would like to see entrepreneurs overcome the taboo of naturism. Society needs to understand that naturism goes beyond clothing. It is a lifestyle which, although it continues to be frowned upon by some, has ceased to be a mere exercise and has been transformed into an ideology which is shared by many people and which does not necessarily require practicing nudism. New section opens at Barefeet Naturist Resort – Naturist Association Thailand
Barefeet Naturist Resort has spent the rainy season in Thailand expanding the resort to double the size. The new expansion will officially open on 24 December 2017.

Gregers and Dao (Disraporn) who own the resort noticed that many guests felt there was too little to do at Barefeet Naturist Resort – apart from the obvious of rtelaxing naked in the garden. So they borrowed 3 mill. baht from their publishing business and built the new phase, which has a 10 x 5 meter pool, a hot pool of 2.5 x 2 meter, a sauna and a bigger room for couple massage and a restaurant. The will also be an expanded sundeck both at the pool side and on top of the restaurant.

It is expected in particular, that hot pool will serve as an intro to naturism for the large number of Thai people, who have discovered the pleasures of the Japanese Onsen style washing houses. As it turns out, the Thais clearly enjoy being naked in these Onsen establishments. Since many go there as couples, but have to split because of the gender separation they practice, it is expected that the new fun experience of doing the Onsen together will introduce many new Thai people to the pleasures of naturism. A Naked Moment of Rest in Cusco, Peru

We have finally done the last of our tours in Cusco, a flurry of tours that took us to many archaeological sites from Wari and Inca periods in the Andes Mountains surrounding Cusco, including Machu Picchu. Tonight we travel by bus through the night to go to Puno and Lake Titicaca, the start of our second week-long adventurein Peru that will take us to Lima where we will spend our third week.

Our apartment in Cusco
Our apartment in Cusco

Our week in Cusco has left little time for being clothing free with that little time being when we were in the apartment which was very comfortable and allowed us to feel at home while we were here.

We washed our clothes following strenuous adventures during the day, relaxed with connecting with our family and friends back home using social media, cooked the occasional simple meal. Continued…Read full original article…

Interview: The First Naked Ascent of El Capitan

El Capitan saw two firsts last week. On June 3, Alex Honnold made the historic first free solo of the monolithic wall via Freerider, climbing the route with nothing but the clothes on his back. On June 6, Leah Pappajohn and Jonathan Fleury traded out the clothes for a rope and completed the first naked ascent of El Cap via the Nose in a day. We spoke to Pappajohn about the ascent.

What gave you the idea to climb El Cap naked?

Leah Pappajohn: The dream of climbing El Cap naked was an obvious one to me, but it took years for me to feel it was a possible in relation to my climbing ability. It’s a great feeling to climb nude. It’s empowering for me. And come on, it’s funny. Continued…Read full original article…

Naked at the ends of the Earth – Part I

At this writing, I’m sitting on the veranda of my apartment in a lovely little naturist resort on Phuket – Lemon Tree Resort – one of but a few places where it’s legal to get naked in Thailand. Well worth the trouble to get here, but it is, indeed a bit of trouble to get here, which inspired the name of this post.

As it happens, I love to explore and find places that I wouldn’t stumble into without some sort of incentive. For a naturist, that incentive is finding a new naked destination; good enough reason to spend a bit of time on internet finding a way to get naked at the ends of the earth. The main criteria for making this list is: 1) I doubt I would have come here had it not been for the opportunity to discover a new naturist destination, and 2) it has to be someplace I would consider visiting again. ‘Buff on the Bluff’ craze on culturally significant Bluff Knoll leads WA elder to call for nude photo ban
An Indigenous tour operator in Western Australia’s Great Southern region wants a nude photo trend in the Stirling Range National Park to end, and would prefer if tourists stopped climbing peaks in the park altogether.

Goreng man and tour guide Joey Williams said the ‘Buff on the Bluff’ social media craze, which results in hikers posting photos of themselves naked once they reached the peak of Bluff Knoll, was disrespectful.

“Especially if it’s posted up and they have got a beautiful panoramic shot of the top of the hill, but someone’s butt cheeks are on there,” he said.

While Mr Williams said it was OK for people to climb the mountain if they were respectful, he would still prefer it if they did not climb.

“I’m against it, I’ll let you know that,” he said. Continued…Read full original article…

Taking time off….
What to do and where to go during the next 10 days is the question we now are asking ourselves. Now that we’ve finally got time away from work together,we want to go somewhere interesting and enlightening and at the same time try not to waste it by just sitting around.

Going to the club is kind of out of the question now the weather has turned colder although we could use the sauna. We have stayed before in November but most of the time it’s not really conducive to staying overnight in poor weather let alone going clothes free.

We could go walking along the coast on the nicer days maybe or even go and visit gardens near us providing of course they’re still open.

Essex on the south eastern side of England is one of the driest counties with a choice of wonderful gardens to visit. It is home to one of the RHS gardens – Hyde Hall which can be visited any time of year. There are also gardens close to Colchester, Chelmsford and Braintree.

Some of theses gardens history are fascinating too, Beth Chattos garden for example was created on a very difficult site and is a great example of what can be done with determination. Continued…Read full original article…

Serial Spanish nudist strips off in front of Michelangelo’s David
Italy’s most artistic streaker is back.

Three years after he stripped off in front of Botticelli’s Venus and six months since he frolicked in the Trevi Fountain in Rome, a Spanish man once again surprised art lovers by posing nude in front of another Italian masterpiece: Michelangelo’s David.

The Spaniard, a “performer” named Adrián Pino Olivera, removed his clothes last Sunday and stood naked next to the monumental sculpture, which takes pride of place in Florence’s Galleria dell’Accademia.

He shouted “incomprehensible phrases” while a companion filmed him, Il Messaggero reported.

Security guards rushed to cover him and eventually escorted him out of the museum, which attracts thousands of visitors each day. Continued…Read full original article…
