Haslemere Sun Club (HSC)
HSC is a small family club at Headley Down, Hants. not far from the Surrey and Sussex borders. It is set among some of the most beautiful scenery in southern England. There are plenty of opportunities for excursions, near and more distant.
The club was described by British Naturism as “Quietly successful in rustic charm seemingly a million miles from civilisation and in a beautiful sun trap on a south facing hill slope in a pine setting. Not a car or industrial sound disturbs our sun bathing”. Yet it is only a few minutes from the A3 at the Devil’s Punch Bowl. Idyllic is the word that comes to mind when you visit Haslemere Sun Club.
Time passes you by and leaves you to contemplate the next swim or game of pétanque. The club claims to have one of the best kept and cleanest outdoor heated swimming pools in the naturist movement. A view that is always reinforced by the club’s members when they visit other sites. Life revolves around the 6m by 18m pool, which is maintained at a steady 80F throughout the height of summer. There is also a kiddies’ pool and a well-equipped children’s corner in sight of the swimming pool, main lawn and pavilion.
Next to the swimming pool is the main sun-bathing lawn, which is the centre of our club where members converge to rest, talk about holidays past, or organise the next pétanque match. This is the sport of the club and is taken very seriously even by those who have difficulty in taking anything very seriously while they are here. The club has other games courts too, for badminton, volleyball and short tennis, which are used by those who just might have some energy left after their swimming and sunbathing.
