A much-loved grandmother was shot dead by her neighbor after they argued about her nude sunbathing, it was claimed. Mildred Olivo, 71, was gunned down at her home in Las Vegas on June 25, with her partner Timothy Hanson, 54, also shot dead.
Olivo’s neighbor Andrew Cote has been arrested for the murders, said to have been sparked by a simmering feud that included a row over the grandma’s sunbathing habits. Neighbors told the Las Vegas Sun that Cote could regularly be heard yelling at Olivo to ‘Put on some clothes’ as she lay in her garden.
Olivo is said to have snapped back that she was entitled to do as she pleased in her own yard. The adjoining properties only had a low wall that enabled Cote and Olivo to easily see in to each other’s yards.
Cote is also said to have made multiple noise complaints about Olivo’s parties, which would see her invited friends over to dance. No official action was ever taken against Olivo as a result of Cote’s complaints.
Cote filed a restraining order in April this year, and is said to have begun filming her, prompting the grandma to invite more friends over in a bid to protect herself, her grandson Jose Roman said.
The alleged killer is now being held without bail ahead of his next court hearing.
Roman, 34, added: ‘You’re free to do whatever it is that you want in your own privacy…
