British women most commonly describe themselves as ‘frumpy’ and ‘wobbly’
Go online and you’ll see that body positivity is really in full swing on social media.
We’ve never had so many women publically celebrating their curves and muscles – and calling for others to do so. But while Instagram is flooded with ultra-confident bloggers, women in the real world are a lot less positive about their own shape.
Ann Summers has conducted a nationwide survey of 2,500 women to find out about the nation’s body shapes, sizes and attitudes towards self-image. They found that the average dress size is a 14 (not 16 as commonly believed) and that the average cup size is a 34DD. 38% of women in the UK describe themselves ‘hourglass’ but over a third use phrases like ‘wobbly’, ‘frumpy’ and ‘chunky’ to describe their bodies.
